The turf course at GP came up a bog on Saturday, but the seven runners who signed-on to run all competed over the ‘soft’ surface for the $200.000 G2 Pan AmericanKey Biscayne showed that he didn’t mind the conditions and was able to run down and then hold off a stubborn French Style to take the 12-furlong race in the time of 2:32.82.

Always prominent in the early stages, Key Biscayne rated well, along the rail, to allow French Style to make the pace as Afterburner gave chase.  Key Biscayne was racing on the inside of Cossack and Billy Joel down the back side and around the first of three turns.  After an opening half-mile went in :49.33, French Style was racing free on a two-length lead over Afterburner with Key Biscayne down on the inside and another length back.

Completing three-quarters in 1:14.31, jockey M. Murrell had his mount right where he wanted him on top and cruising.  Key Biscayne moved up to get on equal footing with Afterburner two lengths back while Cossack and Billy Joel another two lengths behind that duo.  Not much changed as they went down the backside for the final time; however, as French Style reached the quarter pole in 2:05.80, he was being fully engaged by a three-wide Afterburner and Key Biscayne as that runner attempted to split runners.

With a furlong to go, Key Biscayne put his nose in front, but French Style refused to go away.  The eventual winner gradually grew his margin to three-quarters of a length at the wire as French Style hung on for the place with Afterburner another half-length back in third.  Cossack was a clear fourth and was followed across the wire by Dangerfield, Dreams Of Fire, and Billy Joel.

With the victory, Key Biscayne runs his record to 26-5-3-7 with earnings of $382.370.  Congratulations to TwinTowersRacing and Key Biscayne for their victory in The Pan American-G2!
