Kuul Off Freezes the Field in Giants Causeway

Giants Causeway (Grade 3)- $300.000 Purse
KEE- For Fillies and Mares Three Years Old and Upward
Five and a Half Furlongs on the Turf
April 13, 2024

Kuul Off would make her graded stake debut in the Grade 3 Giants Causeway, and it would prove to be a successful one as she would come from behind to pick up the win. She was not a complete stakes rookie, as there were two ungraded starts, but in this race, she would pick up her signature victory. There may be much more to come with her, too. Kuul Off is trained Asgar, and he wins the Giants Causeway for the first time as does jockey P Lopez. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:02.59, the third quickest in the history of the race. Let’s take a look at it:

(1/4 Mile- :22.56)- Several horses push for the early lead, but only one can have it, and that is Maxmillion Farm’s Swife Pinnacle Party. Right beside him is A Lot To Say, for Mb Stables, and within a length of them is Smokey Stover’s Great Beneficiary. In a stalking position, and running evenly with one another are Sand Authority, also out of Smokey Stover, and Little Stinker, for TwinTowersRacing. At the back, we have our eventual winner from Asgar, Kuul Off, who is only three lengths off the lead. She Is Quick is beside her for Maxmillion Farm.

(Top of Stretch, 1.8F To Go)- Three of them round the turn running alongside one another at the front. Emerging with the lead at the top of the stretch is A Lot To Say, who runs between horses. Great Beneficiary looks good on the rail in second while Swife Pinnacle Party tries to keep pace with them. Sand Authority and Little Stinker are still stalking the frontrunners, as Kuul Off starts to let her intentions known and looks to split these two. She Is Quick is still at the back.

(Finish- 1:02.59)- With a furlong to go, it looked like this race would come down to A Lot To Say and Great Beneficiary. Kuul Off was making progress but didn’t seem to be coming on quick enough. However, in the final half furlong, and with an open lane in front of her, Kuul Off would find a gear that the rest of the field did not have, and that effort would see her get the win in a photo over A Lot To Say. In a three-way photo for show, Great Beneficiary hangs on over Little Stinker and Sand Authority. She Is Quick and Swife Pinnacle Party round it out.

About The Winner- Kuul Off, trained by Asgar and ridden to victory by P Lopez, is a three-year-old filly by Sweat It Off and is out of Kula. He was bred in California by Asgar as a second quarter two-year-old, the only trainer of which she has ever known. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her third in seven starts and first stake win. Her career earnings are now $265.600.
