La Terrifiant is Terrific in BC Juvenile Fillies

BC Juvenile Fillies – Grade I [KYO]

1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $2,000.000 Filly 2 Year Olds.

1st La Terrifiant, trained by Jive Inc

This track has all been about the trip and this tiny filly found the perfect trip from the perfect draw. At just 15.1hh she was one of the smallest in the field but small in stature big in ability she won this race by a very comfortable two lengths. Never more than a couple off the leaders she ran away down the stretch and won as she pleased. This was a remarkable training feat by Jive Inc who has only been around since last year and with just 134 starters and just 21 wins before this as well as zero graded stakes wins it seems that experience isnt so important as one or two want us to believe. Bought for $225.000 pre race from her breeder Four Winds Racing this is a story that will keep going and who is to say her fledgling owner can’t add a KYO victory next year.

2nd Bora Bora, trained by Smokey Stover
Got a bit stuck in the ruck around half way but managed to get herself out and ran on really well for second. This daughter of Hardline will be a contender next season for sure and will have done her sire no harm with this excellent run.

3rd Fear The Greatness, trained by First Class Stable
Went forward from her difficult draw and had to sit a bit wide for much of the race. She was still going well enough entering the stretch but she couldnt quicken and ended up just getting out run for second close home. Bought for just $25.000 pre-race this was a good effort after a few ordinary works and she clearly has a great racing heart.

4th Free Sunset, trained by Our Athletes
Turned the tables on plenty of horses here keeping on really well for fourth just a whisker away from second. The inside draw can always be a gilt-edged sword and whilst she went a little way back she managed to muscle her way through and ran a super race.

The rest
Line Drive ran on from an impossible position and plenty noted her late progress. Amen Sista went forward to try and match the track but it didnt suit her. Levi Broom who had beaten just about all these before got stopped a few times when trying to make her run and was a huge disappointment. Beat To The Punch went back and nothing has been winning from the back, she made ground but never got into it. Confidently In Love went forward with his horrible draw but predictably weakened late on.

SUMMARY
This BC is all about draw and race position and like i will be writing for the next 5 races, the winner got the perfect draw and the perfect trip. Having said that she got beat by Levi Broom by just a half length on soft ground, on better ground today she was 2 lengths better and she is clearly the leading routing juvenile filly at the moment.
