La Terrifiant Looks to Take Her Turf Transformation to Next Level

CD Distaff Turf Mile – Grade II

1 I Justwantthe Purple Gdp Inc Hernandez

Although she has only won four from twenty four she has shown some very good form in decent races including a close second in the grade one Beverly D and a win in the grade two Dance Smartly. Those efforts were as a three year old getting weight from older horses and since turning four she hasnt found things as easy. I did like the way she finished when third beaten under a length in the Appleton last time so she has clearly trained on well enough and with three races under her belt this year she should be at peak fitness.

2 La Terrifiant Our Athletes Velazquez J

The winner of the BC Juvenile fillies as a two year old she went onto run a great third in the KY Oaks before an excellent third in the BC Distaff last year. Turf and dirt arent the same on HRP as in real life and she made the switch effortlessly when taking the grade one American Oaks at the end of last year. After a prep run she then took the grade one Wiley last time with a gritty neck win making it two grade ones from 3 runs on turf. I dont think she really cares which surface she runs on so turf or dirt she would have a winning chance from this perfect draw.

3 Alligator Maxmillion Farm Gutierrez

Three lengths behind La Terrifiant in the American Oaks she had previously run third in the BC Fillies and Mares Turf and was one of the most improved three year old fillies of last year. She has had three starts this year and has built her form nicely winning the Royal Heroine last time. Like La Terrifiant she gets a great draw to work with and comes from a stable in great form so must be considered a winning chance.

4 Chai Mission Maxmillion Farm Pennington
Beat her stable companion in the American Oaks last year but was just under a length behind La Terrifiant putting her right in te mix for this. After her eleven length win in The Waya on soft ground last year it was understandable to tink of her as a mudder but she has proved she can cope with this class on a faster surface. She has been steadily improving this year and ran well in the Santa Ana Stakes last time from a difficult draw suggesting a big run is on the cards today.

5 City Never Sleeps Saratoga Stud Bridgmohan

Hasnt got the record of some of these but was very close to winning the Appleton last time in her first ever turf race suggesting she may just be the sleeper in the race. As i said earlier it doesnt really matter to most HRP horses which surface they run on and she seems equally as good if not better on the grass and has every right to run well today.

6 Sillian D J C Racing Stables Bejarano R
With six wins from eleven races this is an up and comer who showed last time she is ready to step up and race with the best. Claimed last year for just $25 she won the Buena Vista Stakes on seasonal debut and really could be anything at this stage.

7 Moonlight Bliss Fractious Colon L H

The sticky draw will probably be negated by the booking of Colon so taking those factors out of the equation and this filly has pretty much the same chance as everything else of winning. She won the Goldikova at the end of last year and has shown in her three starts to date that she has trained n from three to four and is building for the win.

SUMMARY

Well i seem to say this a lot these days but every filly in this field can win, everything is working very similarly, everything has form good enough and to be honest as usual the result will just come down to who gets the right trip today. La Terrifiant has the form to take it and would be my first choice but messers Pennington and Colon are sure to be involved and a turf race without Maxmillion Farm in the finish is not a turf race at all.
