Ladies Want Me Gets the Distance in Hobbs Fall Classic Win

Hobbs Falls Classic- $125.000 Purse
ZIA- For Two Year Olds Foaled in NM
One Mile and Seventy Yards on the Dirt
December 12, 2022

With so few horses in the Hobbs Falls Classic having run long and several of them not even having any public mile works to look at, predicting how the race would go was pretty impossible. Naturally, if they were entered into the race, there was plenty behind the scenes to get their trainers excited. That doesn’t help the outsider, though. One of the horses in the field, Ladies Want Me, had only two public works, of any sort. Ever! He had four times before this one, and fared very well in sprints, so you knew it was a good horse. Still, the lack of confidence in him by the bettors, and that probably included the ladies, was apparent, as he went off at 32/1. Well, he would get the job done here, coming from back in the back to score the victory. He is trained by T Boy Racing, who just won the race for the second time! Jockey A J Juarez Jr was aboard, and it is his first win in the race as well. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:40.11 and one of the slower winning times of the race, but it is all that was needed! Here’s a look at it!

(1/4 Mile- :23.81)- Indescribable took the early lead for Ace Racing Stable, and led by about two lengths moving around the opening turn. Behind him are three stalkers, with Mean Az Kelsie (Hawaiian Shirt Guy) having the inside lane, Robby Lotto (Mb Stables) the middle and War of Backgrounds (Fractious) running in the third lane. Right behind them, we have another group of three, with Lambeau (Bigchief Stables) on the rail, Luna Beach (Asgar) between horses), and Zipper (Mb Stables) on the outside. Hazard Zone (Luz International) is right behind them and thinking about a four wide move, while our eventual winner, T Boy Racing’s Ladies Want Me runs behind that threesome. By himself at the back, is Rattle The Angel (T Boy Racing).

(1/2 Mile- :47.85)- War Of Backroads gradually closes in on the leader, and then completes the pass for the lead in the backstretch. Indescribable remains second for now, but he is about to lose that position to Robby Lotto, likely before they reach the final turn or soon while within it. Mean Az Kelsie is looking for room between them, and there may be just enough of an opening to capitalize on. Lambeau, Luna Beach, and Zipper are in very close promixity, and now, so is Ladies Want Me as he is now within two lengths of the front as well but will be hoping for an opening in the turn. Hazard Zone is a couple lengths behind them and Rattle The Angel is still at the back.

(Top of Stretch, 1.5F To Go)- War Of Backroads is still the leader during the turn and into the stretch, but he has plenty of company directly behind him. A length back, it is essentially six fourth-place at this point with Ladies Want Me in the lane right to the outside of the pacesetter. He is slightly ahead of the others, so would seem to have the best shot of them at this point. But the likes of Robby Lotto, Zipper, Lambeau, Luna Beach, and Mean Az Kelsie are very close and most definitely in striking range. Hazard Zone was getting closer, too, and looking for his opportunity. Indescribable had fallen through the field at this point, and Rattle The Angel was still well off the pace.

(Finish- 1:40.11)- Early in the stretch, Ladies Want Me pokes a head in front of War of Backroads, but that one is not going to go away quietly and the likes of Luna Beach, Zipper and Lambeau still have time as they get closer to the wire. It would be a battle, and in the end, Ladies Want Me prevails over War Of Backroads, who was actually starting to reel him back in just before the wire. It’s a close photo, but that’s the 1-2 finish. Luna Beach is within a length in third, and Zipper gets the fourth-place check. The rest of the order is Lambeau, Mean Az Kelsie, Hazard Zone, Robby Lotto, Rattle The Angel, and Indescribable.

About The Winner- Ladies Want Me, trained by T Boy Racing and ridden to victory A J Juarez Jr, is a two-year-old colt by Timber Rattler, and is out of Ladieslovethegames. He was bred in New Mexico by his trainer as a third quarter two-year-old, and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is his third in five starts, and his second stake win. His career earnings are now $178.610.
