Using her tactical speed to sit right behind the leader, Maxmillion Farm’s Lady Is A Tramp blew by Laffin Diplomat as they made their way into the lane, and never looked back from there.  She was cruising home in front by two lengths and taking Sunday’s Fifth Ave, part of the NY Stallion Series, in a final time of 1:09.32 for the six panels.  Downtheredcarpet, the heavy post time favorite, rallied from far back to be second and making a $3.10 exacta.

The field of four fillies were away from the gate with Laffin Diplomat on the early gas, Reverse Process from the rail, Lady Is A Tramp between that pair, and Downtheredcarpet the early trailer, under a snug hold.

Making their way down the backside, the opening quarter in :22.68, Laffin Diplomat was in front by two lengths.  Lady Is A Tramp was just on the outside of Reverse Process, then a gap of two more back to the trailer, Downtheredcarpet.

Around the turn and to the top of the lane, the half went in :45.57, and they had three sixteenth’s of a mile to run.  Laffin Diplomat still in front but this was going to be short-lived as Lady Is A Tramp was moving up quickly.  Reverse Process trying to dig in from the rail and Downtheredcarpet was set-down for the drive to the wire, less than three lengths separated the field.

Inside the final 150-yards and to the finish, this was all about Lady Is A Tramp, as she pulled away and went under the wire in front by two lengths.  Downtheredcarpet closed well to be second, a neck in front of Laffin Diplomat, and Reverse Process closed this one out.

Lady Is A Tramp is a 2yo bay filly by Chrystal Ball – Fair Juliet, by HRP-Reigh Count and she was bred by here owner in New York.  This was her second win from five starts, but coupled with a pair of second place finishes, and her only off-the-board performance came v. graded company, you have to think this one has her best racing ahead of her.
