Lake Wendigo Loved the Water on SAR Track to Take The Alabama

The Alabama – Grade I
1 1/4 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $600.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.

1st   Lake Wendigo  Night Rider Stables  Carmouche K

Like just about every race at this meet the ability to handle a wet surface was paramount and this filly has proved in the past that she is more than happy with some moisture in the track. Taken way back on a day when the track looked to be playing to closers she flew home for a very impressive three length win. There are plenty of upsides to this filly heading to the BC, essentially she is a three year old so gets the weight allowance, she is proven at grade one level and seems to handle just about any trip, track conditions or surface. Once again the fillies crown will be down to which is the best three year old on the day.

2nd   Diminuendo  Blushing Meadows  Pennington F

Closed hard from the back but never had a look at the winner. She hasnt won since November last year but continues to run great races in good company and i am sure she will get her nose in front before the end of the year.

3rd   Destination Ny  Maxmillion Farm               Colon L H

I thought there may be more to this filly than met the eye and she ran very well to be third running from a stalk position which on the day proved to be the worst position to come from. Probably not suited by the rain her next race may be the one that tells us most about her.

4th   Most Charming  Mb Stables               Bravo J

Pretty disappointing in a one paced fourth she like the third horse chose the wrong tactic ona  day when closers were hard to beat.
