Silverbulletday Stakes [KYO]
1 Mile 70 Yards Dirt Stake Purse $150.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.
1st League Of Legends Smokey Stover Cedillo A
We all know Smokey is a ladies man and once again he enters the year with a hat full of very nice fillies at his disposal. This home bred daughter of Good Authority made it four wins in a row in her first stakes race running the perfect race from her gate in stalking the early lead and then holding on pretty comfortably by a length. A beautifully made filly she looks to have a bright future and i expect her to make her way to the KYO and be a decent chance.
2nd Zin Rock Creek Gutierrez Mario
The trainer claimed this one for just $16 last year and has seen her really hit her improvement curve hard. I wasn’t sure how she would act on the dirt after some good efforts on turf but she out did my expectations with a really strong second in this competitive race. She did it from a tough draw which makes the performance even better and would imagine the trainer will be smiling from ear to ear after this effort.
3rd Say Bye Bye Arindel Jaramillo E
It just goes to show that stakes form against overnight form means very little at HRP as this stakes winner that has collected a wage at grade two and grade one level could not beat a couple of fillies having their first runs in black type. It may have been that she found herself in the lead early on and it was such a clear lead that it looked less like a race engine move than an instructional move. She normally stalks but today the front was to prove too much for her and she got run down at the end.
4th Verve Mb Stables Bridgmohan S X
Stayed on well for fourth but never looked like challenging the top three. This was a tough field first up and i think there is some improvement in her so don’t write off her KYO challenge just yet.
