You Need a Manzillion to Win The Jazil

The Jazil
1 1/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $100.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st      He Needsa Manzillian      Mo Mentum Farm      Lezcano J

This consistent six year old proved two things with this easy win today, firstly that the new trainer was fully justified in the $100 they paid for the son of Charley Farley and secondly that the older horses can have plenty left as they pass into middle age. Settling near the back he gradually improved his position and then with a furlong to run sprinted effortlessly clear for a two length win. I guess the question is where next for him but as his speed figures are telling us he looks a late maturing type and he could go on to better things.

2nd       Lion Lake         Night Rider Stables        Vargas J A Jr

Another that looks like he is finding some improvement later in life he backed up his good effort in the CC Jewel to run a solid second after hitting the front coming into the stretch. Stalking from his good draw he did everything right but had no answer when the winner strode by.

3rd        Shoot To Kill          Night Rider Stables        Carmouche K

Led from the gate at an honest pace but when he was challenged had no answers and eventually just whacked away for third. This wasn’t a bad effort for the five year old who continued his rather consistent form and whilst he may not end up a world beater i am sure he will continue picking up pay checks for the owner.

4th        Mad Monster       The Sidley Stud        Ortiz J L

Never really got in contention which is surprising after his good run last time out. Closing up as they rounded the bend he simply ran out of puff and faded in fourth.
