My inability to pick a winner in a big 2yo race finally goes to the wayside as Lemax Farms gets the job done in a big way with Brislastempire putting a HRP beat-down on the field in the BC Juv Turf (GI) on Friday afternoon. Sent off as the second betting favorite, at 4/1 odds, he broke alertly to stay just behind the pace while saving valuable ground thru the clubhouse turn, was let lose between horse going into the far turn and moved up quickly to engage Divide Your Fears, who was the pace setter in this one, disposed of that one moving into the lane… and it was all about this gelding from there as he just lit it up down the lane to score by two widening lengths (looked like more to me)… keeping his turf unbeaten streak going.
Benevento from the Riggins Racing outfit, a nearly 17/1 outsider, saved ground along the inside while racing mid-pack, then moved to the two-path to close well, nabbing the runner-up spot in a photo finish for the minor placings.
It was a nose to Mb Stables Suspended, dismissed at 15/1 after drawing into the field as an also-eligible, closing from the far outside to gain the show spot in that bang-bang-bang finish.
Big Guns Stable’s Politsiya used a ground saving trip, as a 33/1 long-shot, to be in that picture and take away the minor share of the $1,000.000 purse. Post time favorite Fight Clubber swung wide for the drive but only had a modest late kick to gain the fifth position, another nose to Phantom Thunder in sixth, same to Divide Your Fears seventh, Wolf Lord was eighth, Captains Breath ninth, Hagrid tenth, Bold Luka eleventh, Puppet Master twelfth, Jigsaw thirteenth and Soviet Debacle closed this one out.
The final time was 1:33.02, while the DMR Turf Course was listed as Firm. Congrats to Lemax Farms and Britslastempire!
