GI – Spinaway (BC)
$350.000 Graded Stake 7 Furlongs on Dirt for 2 Year Old Fillies
With the BC fast approaching every weekend that passes by is another missed opportunity and one bad start by a good horse can derail any shot at being in DMR for the first weekend in November. Leading into the Spinaway all the talk was about Levi Broom and for good reason. She has yet to make a bad step in her career going three for three in her career and showing every morning she is getting better and better. She went off as the heavy 1/1 favorite and would not disappoint winning by a length and solidifying her spot in the BC Juvenile Fillies.
Down the backstretch Free Sunset pushed early from the seven post but the three to her inside all went with her making her work hard for that lead which she maintained into the far turn with Seydoux to her inside. A pack of three Bluetooth Wireless, Levi Broom and Speeding Tales sat a couple lengths off them while three more were a couple off them, Silver Acceptance, Amen Sista and Madame de Maintenon while Airlie Beach trailed the field.
As they hit the stretch Levi Broom began to hit her stride and moved out wide of Free Sunset and would finish a length ahead. Free Sunset would hold off a hard charging Amen Sista for second and Seydoux would round out the top four.
With the win Levi Broom automatically qualifies herself for the BC Juvenile Filly race. With the second place finish Free Sunset moves up into fifth in BC points with six and Amen Sista now sits seventh with four points.
Congratulations to the Mb Stables and Levi Broom on the win. She stopped the clock at 1:22.11 for seven furlongs.
