A field of five got together for the LCD Lassie on Saturday, and after six furlongs, there was a tight three-way photo. Two horses were shown as being barely ahead of the third place finisher, but there could be no separating our top two as the post time favorite, Libby Creek and the longest shot on the board, Make An Impact run in a dead heat. It was an entertaining race that saw our pace setter, Libby Creek, do all she could to hang on while Make An Impact, running for the first time since mid-May gave it her all to catch her. The two trainers, Nynl Stables (Libby Creek) and Maxmillion Farm (Make An Impact) each win the stake for the first time in their careers! Libby Creek jockey G Saez is a two time winner, having also won last year while Make An Impact’s rider, F Geroux wins for the first time. Congratulations to them! The time of the victory was 1:09.46, which is a new stake record!

(¼ Mile- :22.70)- One of our co-winners, Libby Creek, out of Nynl Stables, takes the early lead and opens up a lead of a little more than a length as they run down the backstretch. Right behind her is the one that she won’t be separated from at the wire as Make An Impact stalks the pace in the second lane for Maxmillion Farm. She has For The Lonely, from T Boy Racing, a half length behind her to her outside. Asgar’s Bronze Freak is within a length of these on the rail, and it’s about two and a half more to the trainer, Hannahbanana’s True Crimes.

(½ Mile- :45.41, Top Of Stretch, 2F To Go)- Libby Creek smoothly rides the rail while rounding the turn, and continues to lead by a length and a half as they enter the top of the stretch. Make An Impact is running second, and has not made a push to the front but is keeping that pacesetter well within sight. Bronze Freak holds her ground as well, keeping to the inside of Make An Impact as she moves into the third position, getting around For The Lonely, who was trying to stay with them. Several more lengths back to True Crimes.

(Finish- 1:09.46)- If you had money on Libby Creek, the stretch run probably seemed as though it took forever. With every stride, Make An Impact was inching closer and closer and that one was keeping her length advantage on Bronze Freak. Libby Creek never backed down, and tried her best to answer the challenge while Make An Impact was trying to break her maiden. Late in the stretch, Bronze Freak was looking like the best of the three of them. A tight finish was shaping up, which of these horses would have just a little more than the others to get the job done? A three way photo was declared and indeed, it was close. There could be no separating Libby Creek and Make An Impact as they dead heat for this win! Bronze Freak was not that far off from making this a three way dead heat. For The Lonely was beaten by a length, and about three more to True Crimes.

Libby Creek, trained by Nynl Stables and ridden to victory by G Saez, is a two year old filly by Asterisk, the surprising same sire of Fontenot, who won the LCD Ladies Distaff. She is out of Cp Great Big Farley and was bred as a yearling by Nynl Stables in Louisiana. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her fourth in seven starts, and it is her first stake win. Her career earnings are now $101.280.

Make An Impact, trained by Maxmillion Farm and ridden to victory by F Geroux, is a two year old filly by Impactful and is out of Narleu Lia. She was bred in Louisiana by Hawthorneshorsefarm as a first quarter two year old and acquired by Maxmillion Farm, unraced, for $25.000 Congratulations to the connections! This would be her first career victory, and her career earnings now stand at $40.880.
