Looks Like a Little Cracker as the Three year Old Takes The Serena’s Song

Serena’s Song Stakes

1 Mile 70 Yards | Dirt | Stake | Purse $100.00 | Fillies & Mares | 3yo+

1st — Malibu Cracker (Martyparty) — Pennington F — 1:39.27

There’s a lot to like about this one’s form lines now, with this black‑type win making it four victories and a second from five starts. Tested only at overnight level so far, her last win came at lowly TUP — but no one told her that was a low‑level track, as she treated her rivals with contempt today.

Bouncing out of the gate and settling in a close mid‑pack position, she always looked to have them covered and strode home in good style down the stretch. It is great to see this popular trainer gain a good win with a very progressive filly, and I am pretty sure we won’t be seeing her at TUP again any time soon.

2nd — Inginuity (Mb Stables) — Bravo J — 1:39.63

We often see horses from this stable run up on speed, and this one was no different as she went head‑to‑head early before gaining the advantage around halfway. She finally got a decent break on them, but the early fight had knocked the stuffing out of her, and she could only keep on for second in the end.

I am still not sure where she sits in the massive Mb empire, but she clearly has a race like this in her playbook — although at six years old, her time may be limited.

3rd — Nicolette (Alydar Stables) — Gallardo A A — 1:39.79

Came from a long way back, as usual, to grab third, but she just seems one of those types that struggles on this race engine. She is certainly classy enough, and one day her running style will work — but it wasn’t today.

4th — Brandy Creme (The Sidley Stud) — Leon S — 1:39.81

Another with a running style unsuited to the race engine, she stayed on well enough but again could not add to her debut win at BTP a long time ago.
