Lysistrata Surprises in Muddy Bourbonette Oaks

Bourbonette – $300.000

TP – 1 1/16 Mile – Dirt

For Fillies Three Years Old

March 25, 2023

By far the longest shot on the board, Lysistrate shocked the field by taking them gate to wire in the Bourbonette. Electric Mischief made a run at her in the stretch, but it was too little too late. She changed hands for $240.000 in February, and after a third-place finish in the Cincinnati Trophy Stakes, she did not disappoint her new connections this time. Lysistrata is now #7 on the FYO qualifying list with 56 points.

Complete order of finish:

1 Lysistrata (Riggins Racing) Led wire to wire and won by a length

2 Electric Mischief (Arindel) Came from well off the pace to get up for second

3 Sioux Flower (Mb Stables) Made a late move to take third

4 Sparks (Pan Farms) Stalked the pace and held on for fourth

5 Empty Spaces (South Shore Stables) Even trip; settled for fifth

6 Cold Storage (Rock Creek) Never a factor

7 Crystal Star (Smokey Stover) Close early, then faded to seventh

8 Tarte Aux Pommes (Jerry Garcia Racing) Faded badly after stalking the pace midway

9 Telling All (Nakamura Stables) Never fired

Lysistrate is by Asset Class out of the Commanding mare, Hind Sight. The win brings her career earnings to $231.540 and almost assures her a spot in the gate come KYO day. Congratulations to Lysistrata and Riggins Racing!
