The barn told you that 30/1 was uncalled for… so was 21/1.  On a day where this race sent careers in many directions, Poetic Panther, conditioned by Maletto, tracked the early pace, took over when asked mid-way on the clubhouse turn, and cruised under the wire by a length to take The Orchid (GIII), finishing the marathon mile and a half in 2:25.70 on the Firm, yet nonexistent, inner Turf at GP.  All By Myself, also forwardly placed throughout, tried to give the winner a tussle, but settled for the second spot, a length better than November Storm in third, and Ginger Lucy took the minor money.  As a side note, the great war-mare, Maggie Greene just couldn’t find the magic in a race she has won four times and was retired by The Sidley Stud after amassing $5,372.840 in earnings, showing a final line of 21-13-13 from her 73 starts… she will be missed on the weeds, but we wish her well in the shed-row.  Ten lengths covered the field of eleven.
