Mandy Mo Looking for Mo Stakes Success

                  The Whimsical Stakes- Grade III
                            WO Race 8 6F – Dirt
                                Purse $125.000
Four Year Olds and Up Fillies And Mares

A group of eight fillies and mares going to post here. Recent stakes winners and stakes placed runners are going to line up in here which makes it a very competitive race. There is really no clear cut standout looking at the past performances so one of them is just going to have to be a lot better than the rest.

1. Hidden Cabal (17-7-6-2 $107.640), trained by Stone Creek Farm

With four top two finishes at PM over the winter with two being wins, and then a third at SA and a second at AQU last out, she’s been bet consistent. While she is going to have to pick it up just a notch since those have been fair level, statebred stakes and a starter stakes she’s on her game and might have a chance to win.

2. Shoot The Moon (22-3-5-3 $332.590), trained by TwinTowers Racing

After a couple disappointing runs on the turf routing, she ran a good second last time sprinting on the main track. That was her best race in a while and she was fifty-to-one in that race. Some fast works as of late shows she might have regained some confidence after that good performance and may be on the rise in form.

3. Moon Diamond (26-7-5-6 $343.260), trained by RNP Stables

After being auction off in March she made her first start for her new owner in the Distaff Handicap at AQU and ran a pretty good third. In a small ended up only getting beat a length in the end. She’ll benefit if there’s an off track because she is four for four in the money on the off track. Going to have to run a big race to win.

4. General Fletcha (15-6-5-1 $475.170), trained by Mb Stables

A graded stakes winner last year but she hasn’t been able to find the winners circle in her last four starts. She’s been knocking on the door though with three seconds in those last four so she’s been very consistent. If she can run back to that graded stakes win she has a very good shot to win.

5. Plucky Riddle (13-5-3-2 $156.600), trained by Tiratzo

Stakes placed in two of her last four starts and two out of the money finishes in stakes in the other two. After getting beat a half of a length last start she’s thrown down three public works with a six furlong drill in 1:10.67 at PRX on April 6th shows she is still working good and if she runs to the work she has a chance.

6. Capella Rising (12-5-4-1 $88.730), trained by Stone Creek Farm

Second entry for this trainer and she’s done no wrong since being claimed in early February. Two seconds in stakes races since the barn change tells you that she may have been running at too low of a level. One second in a statebred stake and another in a starter stake she will have to run a career best to win.

7. Mandy Mo (14-7-2-2 $271.820), trained by Angelos Stable

A win machine she has won half of her career starts and two of her last four with one being a starter stakes and the other being against the boys in the Toboggan at AQU three back. Coming in with some good works she’ll be the one to beat and it helps being in with girls again. She’ll be the pick of the race.

8. Chase (14-4-3-2 $291.930), trained by D J C Racing Stables

A recent easy winner of an allowance optional claimer at GP last start. It was two months ago but you got the old wizard training her so that will always help a horses chances. She’s stepping up a bit in class and she’ll have to run back to four starts ago when she won a statebred stake. Will need to run a big race to win.

Summary

A very competitive field of filly and mare sprinters here and no real clear cut favorite. Mandy Mo looks the toughest to beat since she has beaten some very good male sprinters in the Toboggan. General Fletcha will have a decent chance as will Chase and Plucky Riddle. It’ll depend on pace and instructions and trip.
