Mans Final Frontier made all the running in the 6.5 furlong South Ocean Stakes at WO and held on late to take the ON-bred stake worth $100.000.  After narrowly missing in last month’s off-the-pace effort at the same level, S.X. Bridgmohan put his filly on the lead and held-off all challengers.  Mans Final Frontier improved her race record to 5-2-1-1 for earnings of $114.300.

Pirate Code was a late scratch after acting-up at the gate, so only four fillies went postward.  After a brief delay, Mans Final Frontier popped the gate and set up shop on the front end.  Bridgmohan did a good job and got the filly to relax as she coasted unopposed through an opening quarter in :23.93.  Behind her were Broomstick Storm, Paris Broadway, and Fire.

Reaching the half-mile marker in :47.21, Mans Final Frontier was a full three lengths clear and it looked as though the only question would be how wide the margin would be at the wire.  Paris Broadway, carrying two pounds more than her three rivals, decided that she would be the one to push Mans Final Frontier to the wire.  She was able to make steady progress on the winner, but would fall a half-length short of victory.  Three lengths behind the place horse, Fire edged Broomstick Storm for the show honors.  Mans Final Frontier stopped the clock in 1:16.71; that wastwo full lengths faster than the boys would run the same distance one race later.

Congratulations to Acber Farms and the filly carrying their silks to victory in the $100.000 South Ocean Stakes at WO.
