Marathon Females To The KEE Turf For The Bewitch

4/29/2022

  1  KEE    Bewitch  (GIII)

$300.000    4yo&Up F&M    1 1/2m  Turf    123lbs

Lexington KY in the spring… yeah, it’ll clear the mind and soul.  We catch a nice field of seven turf ladies going the marathon mile and a half distance on the lush KEE turf in the Bewitch (GIII).  Can you look past Number Nine in this race?  She won the BC F&M Turf (GI) at DMR last fall and has been on the board in both of her ’22 starts.. she just looks to be sitting on a big race and a win.  Into The Darkness beat a few of these last out when she took the Orchid (GIII) on the soft GP sod, and she looks to be in fine form, so give her a chance as well.

Here’s the Field –

1
Build Battle    Mb Stables    Franco M   123   8/1

She won at the distance taking down OptAlw types at SA then was fourth while facing a few of these in the Orchid (GIII) at GP in her most recent.  She’s usually around when they hand out check and no reason to think she can’t be a factor here today.  Giver her a big look.

2
   Common Misconception    Nakamura Stables    Carrasco V R   123   7/2

Another that won on the SA turf course, taking down Alw horses going a mile and a eighth to close out her ’21 season.  She was third in the Megahertz (GIII) at SA after setting the pace in that one and just didn’t show much in the Fox (GIII) at GP last out.  Can she rebound at this distance?

3
Made The Choice High    First Flight Stable    Gaffalione T   123   8/1

She was second in this race back in ’20 and was supposed to be in the race last year but the new owner is a fool and worked her to close to the race (yes, I’m an idiot).  She’s a pro at running third, which she’s been in both of her ’22 starts, so maybe she can do the same here today.

4
Into The Darkness    Rampage Stable    Ortiz I Jr   123   7/2

Won the fore-mentioned Orchid (GIII) pulling away late to get home clear by two.  She beat Maggie Green in that race, and that’s a tall order…  she won the Valley View (GIII) over this course last fall, is sharp right now and looks to be the one to get past if you want to get your picture taken.

5
Nurses    Mo Mentum Farm    Gutierrez Mario   123   4/1

Very consistent type that never seems to run a bad race.  This is her first time going the distance, but closed at a mile and a sixteenth in her last out stakes, where she finished third, so she seems to want a route of ground.

6
   Number Nine    Smokey Stover    Ferrer J C   123   3/1

This race mare is all class and has put a ton of money in the bank with her nine lifetime wins.  She won the BC F&M Turf (GI) last year, won at the distance taking the Long Island (GIII) but is looking for her first win of the ’22 season but does have a second and a third vs graded horses.  This may be just what she’s looking for.

7
   Shes One Of A Kind    Maxmillion Farm    Bridgmohan S X   123   9/2

Another looking for her first win of the ’22 season show a runner-up finish at the distance facing Alw horses at SA, then was fifth in the Royal Heroine (GII) going a flat mile.  They send her back to the long distance trying to wake her up.
