Matamata Looks the One in The Azeri at OP

The storyline here could change like the weather… no, really, rain currently in the forecast for Thur/Fri and cloudy Sat for The Azeri (GII), a mile and a sixteenth stakes for the ladies… so handicapping this one is going to be a chore, because it may have to be re-written in the 25th hour.  For the time being, I’m going with Fast and will take Matamata as the top choice.  She closed out ’23 with that big win in the BC Distaff (GI), took the older female award, and then kicked-off ’24 with a nice win in the  Bayakoa (GIII), over this track.  It was wet that day, as well, so no matter the conditions of the track, she’s the one to get past.  Let’s go right next door and give Starting Over the second spot… third in the Distaff, she made her ’24 debut a winning one, as well, taking the Houston Ladies Classic (GIII), beating a few of these in that one.  There’s a few I like in the third spot, Gerri G is very consistent, Wavy Girl is always tough, and you always have to give Mb a puncher’s chance, so Present Tense should be close.  It’s a good one, so grab a wobble-pop and let’s get a good spot by the rail to take this one in.
