Maxmillion Takes Breeders Stakes with His Namesake

Breeders Stakes
1 1/2 Mile Turf Stake Purse $400.000 Open 3 Year Olds Foaled In Canada.

1st Max Million, trained by Maxmillion Farm
Previously this horse had only won a maiden and an allowance, but an improved work in June and the perfect trip saw him take this race by a very convincing length. Clearly an improved horse, he looks to be a late comer to the staying ranks, but should be rushed into a decent race to give him a chance to go to the Breeders Cup because in beating the runner up he is a length better than the great Clockwork Chai on this effort.

2nd Decibel, trained by Threshold
Went onto the pace despite instructions that were issued to try and prevent that from a wide draw, but with a very moderate pace it looked like he had  a good spot. However, whereas he usually finishes his races off late, today with the wide gate, he just plugged on and was fairly beaten in the end. Maybe his trainer should’ve followed the initial temptation to scratch from the wide draw.

3rd Laffin parrot, trained by Mo Mentum Farm
Made the switch from dirt to turf and finished an excellent third, rounding off a very successful spell in the Canadian Championship races. It will be interesting to see where he goes next

4th Throwing Hands, trained by Mb Stables
Closed up like a winner but weakened at the end just like he had in his last three races. He may be better off if returned to the mile.
