Scotty from Miata Farms didn’t have time to send me his picks for this weekend, but he used this race to win the Pick’em… oh yeah, and as a side note Mb Stables won another grade one stakes race.  In a near dominating weekend of graded wins, Never Enough brought the perennial Trainer of The Year yet another big win in Saturday’s Beverly D (GI), taking this one by a length in a final time of 1:574 for the mile and three-sixteenths soggy turf event.  My Girl Makita closed well to grab the second spot for Maxmillion Farm, but Mb took the third and fourth spots as well, securing a huge chunk of the $600.000 purse.

The gate was staged at the top of lane on the turf course, here just outside of Chicago, and as they field got this one underway, it was Pirate Petranella on the early gas, Fabulous Angelina giving chase from the outside, Chances Taken was next, Angel Shark down along the rail, then back outside for Envy.  Hopewell Tradition just to her inside, Lady Cowgirl next to that one, then Sweetness on the hedge, Why You Do That on her flank, My Girl Makita next to that one and Never Enough was the early trailer.

Under the line the first time by and dashing off mid-way through the clubhouse turn, they had six and a half furlongs to run and Pirate Petranella dashed off to a four length lead.  The trio of Lady Cowgirl on the rail, Envy three wide and Fabulous Angelina gave chase, Angel Shark just in behind that group, Why You Do That next to that one, Hopewell Tradition four wide and Chances Taken between horses.  Sweetness saving ground, Never Enough on her flank and My Girl Makita three wide and trailing.

The field made their way down the backside and were nearing the far turn with three and a half furlongs to run and Pirate Petranella had opened up a five length lead on them.  Envy, three wide and beginning to move forward, Lady Cowgirl still saving ground, Fabulous Angelina next to that one, then Chances Taken four wide.  Why You Do That just in behind that one, Angel Shark saving ground, Sweetness was next, then Hopewell Tradition out wide, Never Enough and My Girl Makita was still the back marker, ten lengths from front to back.

Around the far turn and into the stretch, we had three-sixteenths of a mile to run and Pirate Petranella was in front by three and starting to drift out a bit.  Chances Taken pressed forward, Why You Do That on her inside, Never Enough out wide with My Girl Makita and Hopewell Tradition, back in the middle of the track to Envy, Angle Shark next to that one, Lady Cowgirl trying to get going from the rail, Sweetness on her flank as Fabulous Angelina dropped out of it.

Now inside the final sixteenth and to the finish, Pirate Petranella was looking weary as Never Enough moved up and past, Why You Do That pressing forward, Chances Taken right there and My Girl Makita with late action… but this was all about Mb Stables and Never Enough as she just kept on going and went under the wire in front by a length.  My Girl Makita make a valiant late effort but had to settle for the place with the rest of the Mb entries, Why You Do That third and Chances Take fourth.  Pirate Petranella tired to be fifth, Hopewell Tradition sixth, Angel Shark seventh, Sweetness eighth, Envy ninth, Lady Cowgirl tenth and Fabulous Angelina closed this one out.

Never Enough is a 3yo bay filly by Niner Forty Niner – Bubble Girl, by Sweep The Nebula, and she was bred by her own, Mb Stables, in FLA.  This was her fourth win from ten starts, and was her first win of the 2020 season.  She now has earnings of $482.440.

Never Enough away a step slow, allowed to settle well of of the pace, moved forward through the far turn, caught the leader in the final sixteenth, won driving.  My Girl Makita showed no early speed while well off of the pace, moved forward through the lane, good effort.  Why You Do That rated, found inside position, moved forward through the far turn, no excuse.  Chances Taken raced mid-pack early, moved forward quickly, loomed at the top of the lane, flattened out in the drive.  Pirate Petranella broke alertly, clear lead to the furlong marker, tired.  Hopewell Tradition rated back, asked, some late action while no threat.  Angel Shark some early action, lost position, evenly.  Sweetness was outrun.  Envy chased the early pace, tired.  Lady Cowgirl forwardly placed, tired.  Fabulous Angelina flashed speed for a half, folded.
