You would think that being beaten only four lengths in the SAR Derby would be good credentials for a race like this but he was actually last of 13 which just about sums up how ridiculously close HRP racing is. Two good efforts over this trip in the Kent Stakes and The Pennine Ridge would give us a better indication of his chance which in a fairly soft race arent bad at all.

2 Homme de Guerre John Henry Maldonado E

The trainer and jockey are in great form and with the perfect draw this gelding may be the one to beat. The winner of the KD Preview Turf Cup last time featuring a speed figure of 98 he was bought after that for $100.000 and looks for a quick payback in this race. His works are solid too.

3 Warino D J C Racing Stables Lezcano J

On the face of it his form doesnt look good enough but i really liked his fourth in the Dania Beach and his works as always have been pretty swift. He has been in overnights in his last three but with little or no class system they are as hard to win as stakes races and to be honest this race isnt much better than an allowance. An each way shot.

4 Humzinger Maxmillion Farm Centeno D E

Again whilst his form doesnt look strong enough he hails from a stable that wins these turf races for fun and this wouldnt be the first ordinary looking horse they have won a turf stakes race with. Solid works and a fair draw will help and his sin last time had the look of an improver about it.

5 Prince Of Theories Mb Stables Beschizza A

This would be the form pick of a race like this but we all know form isnt the deciding factor to winning at HRP. He made it four wins in a row for the champion trainer after they bought him for just $50.000 back in February and he has improved with each race capping off with a win in the grade two National Museum Of Racing last time out. He is certainly on a roll after looking just average back in March and he will probably start favorite.

6 Z Modest One Gdp Inc Pennington F

The obvious danger to the horse inside him he went from winning a maiden to winning the grade three Singspiel earning a speed figure of 100 in the process. Stuck witha wide draw in the Nijinsky last time he faded after being victim to the outside speed push and only just held on for ofurth in the end. There is a lot going for this one and it will be a coin toss between him and Prince Of Theories for favoritsim.

7 The Pride Of Simba Maxmillion Farm Franco G
A second runner from the turf king he pretty much mirrors his stable mate on form winning nicely last time out after just average form previously. The biggest selling point for this one will be that most of his runs have been on dirt but the two he has had on turf look pretty good. The outside gate will be a challenge and it will be interesting to see how the trainer handles this race tactically.

SUMMARY

This looks between Z Modest One and Prince Of Theories on all form, beyond that Homme de Guerre looks like he may be a danger from a sweet draw.
