How do I know this is going to be a crazy weekend of racing?  I nailed the exacta in the opening race of the BC Weekend, in a baby race, none the less!!  Hold on to your hats!!  Still the Big Barn continues his BC Race dominance, taking the BC Juv Turf Spring (GI) with Drinkin Creepin, as the bay gelding goes under the wire in front by a length in a final time of 1:021 for the five and a half furlongs.  I was shocked at the 11/1 odds on this one, that’s a fact.  Diablo Diablo take the second spot as Indian Summer, the post time favorite, runs a big race to finish a head in front of Deaf Luna in third.  The Asgar trained filly certainly has nothing to be ashamed of and proved the 22/1 odds to be slightly askew.  Mb Stables also took the minor money, as Derby Proud was three quarters of a length back, and that was quite impressive in only his third lifetime start.

We had a full field of fourteen enter the starting the gate… the flag went up, and off in running in the BC Juvenile Turf Sprint…  Tempered and Blue Oyster Cult breaking fast, Pippin, Drinkin Creepin from the outside, back towards the inside for Luna Dream on the rail, Deaf Luna next to that one, just in behind that group we have Derby Proud, Sky Princess, back towards the inside to Pac and Indian Summer was next.  The trailing foursome of Clown Fear, Mr Wendal, Big Papa Pump and To Shelia.

Flying down the backside and into the far turn, three furlongs to run and the opening quarter went in :22.51, Tempered on the rail and the lead, Blue Oyster Cult giving chase on his flank, a gap to Drinkin Creepin, down to the rail for Luna Dream, Deaf Luna between that pair and to the outside for Pippin.  Another gap to Sky Princess on the outside of Pac along the rail, Derby Ground, Indian Summer just to the inside of that one, then Mr Wendal, Clown Fear from the outside, To Shelia between horses and Big Papa Pump was now the back marker.

Around the far turn and to the top of the lane, just three sixteenths to run, the half mile went in :45.30 and Tempered continued to show the way by a head.  Blue Oyster Cult wasn’t going away, Drinkin Creepin now moving upon the outside of that pair, Deaf Luna to the inside of that one and down to the rail for Luna Dream.  Pippin with a clear run from the outside, then a length to Pac on the inside of Indian Summer, Derby Proud on the outside and even wider to Sky Princess.  A length to Mr Wendal, To Shelia, Big Papa Pump and Clown Fear headed in the wrong direction.

Just inside the final sixteenth and the complexion of this one changed quickly as Drinkin Creepin moved right past everyone to secure a length and a half lead.  A cavalry charge behind with the closers moving forward and the speed beginning to take it’s toll… Tempered trying to find more, Luna Dream moving forward, Blue Oyster Cult looking weary, Deaf Luna, Indian Summer now moving forward in a rush, Derby Proud and Pippin out wide.  Back inside to Pac, Sky Princess trying to find more down the far outside, Mr Wendal, Big Papa Pump, To Shelia and Clown Fear.

Down to the final 150-yards and to the finish, Mb Stables could feel the first victory of the BC Weekend as Drinkin Creepin was home clear, and went under the wire in front by a length or more, taking the victory.  Indian Summer closed a late gap to grab the place, just in front of Deaf Luna then three-quarters of a length to Derby Proud in fourth.  Luna Dream was fifth, Pac sixth, Tempered seventh, Pippin eighth, Blue Oyster Cult tiring to be ninth, Mr Wendal tenth, Big Papa Pump eleventh, Sky Princess twelfth, To Shelia thirteenth and Clown Fear closed this one out.

Drinkin Creepin is a 2yo bay gelded son of Creepy Rene – Fair Drinkum Thinkum, by Cherokee Sunset, and he was bred in Cal by Arkansas Elite.  Mb Stables purchased him from the September Auction for $32.000, and this was his third win from five starts, both starts for the Big Stable being wins, and he now has $674.400 in earnings.  Congrats to the Connections!
