Mb Stables Entry Looks Tough To Get Past In NY SS – Park Avenue

A couple of couples and a field of seven Empire State fillies will be headed to the gate on Sunday for the NY Stallion Series – Park Avenue.  The six and a half furlong sprint certainly doesn’t lack speed now winners as we have a pair with a two pound penalty.  I’m taking the two Mb Stables entrants as my top selections and put them where you must… Change For A Twenty just missed in open stakes company over this track in her most recent, and has never lost facing NY-breds, breaking maiden and taking down an Alw race, both over this surface.  Reasoning won the East View in her most recent and has a pair of other NY-bred stakes wins… no doubt, these two are going to be tough.  Add in Booray who was second in the East View and you probably can nail down the trifecta without using a lot of grey matter to do it.

Here’s The Field –

1
   Upstate    Smokey Stover    Carmouche K   122   5/2

Sold for a pretty penny then ran second in the Busher over this track, but tired to be fifth in the SA Oaks (GII) where the distance was longer and the competition was saltier.  I’d have to think this is going to be softer and a distance more to her liking.  Give her a big shot to get it done.

2
   Minx    D J C Racing Stables    Gomez Os   122   8/1

Got the job done last out breaking maiden at TAM as the 5/2 post time favorite, but this is obviously a step up from there, so she’s going to need to tighten up the chin strap and run her best to be part of the festivities.

3
Change For A Twenty    Mb Stables    Davis D   122   2/1

First half of the Mb Stables entry and she’s never really run a bad race.  Two wins and two runner-up efforts from five starts and she just missed when second in open stakes company over this track last out in the Cicada.  She looks tough to me.

4
   Reasoning    Mb Stables    Franco M   124   2/1

The other half of the Mb Stables entry looks to be just as tough… She won the East View facing similar and has been feasting on NY-stakes company, so this looks to be right in her wheel-house.  Four wins from nine starts, three vs. NY-bred stakes types… yeah.

5
Lonely    Ace Racing Stable    McCarthy T   124   4/1

She just missed in the Forward Gal (GIII) but was last of twelve in the Davona Dale (GII).  She was an even fourth in the Bourbonette Oaks at TP in her most recent.  She beat similar in the Franklin Square…  I think you get the picture, when she’s good she’s good, and when she ain’t… yeah.

6
Needs New Legs    Arindel    Juarez N   122   8/1

Two wins from eight starts but she was sixth of eight in her only black-type race, so she will need to turn it around to get a piece of this one.  They do move her back to the main track after four consecutive turf sprints, so we will just have to see how she handles the change.

7
   Booray    Arindel    Lezcano J   122   7/2

Four starts and if you throw out that first start (which we almost ALWAYS have to do) eh has a win and a pair of runner-up starts.  She just missed closing fast to be the runner-up just a head back in the East View, facing similar.  She certainly deserves a big look today.
