Proving that you don’t every doubt the Mb Stbles Machine, Blame It On The Luck, sent off at 8/1 odds, stayed close to the early pace in Saturday’s Bowling Green (GII), then took over through the lane and was able to hold off the late charge from Raj Action Packed, taking the win by a length in a final time of 2:11.59 for the mile and three eight’s sod extravaganza, on the SAR inner turf course.  Winter Solstice was another half length back in third with Techfluence a neck back in fourth.  Only four lengths separated this field, front to back.

The field loaded up gate midway down the backside for this mile and three-eight’s, three turn marathon and away from the gate with Sunlander showing early speed along with Raj Action Packed, Techfluence, Blame It On The Luck along the inside and Momentus on the rail, Thanks For Nothing was next, then Face Your Feathers, Winter Solstice, People Doubted and Chayse was the early trailer.

They made their way under the wire the first time by and had seven furlongs to run with Sunlander in front by a half-lengths, Techfluence three wide, Raj Action Packed just behind that pair and between horses, Blame It On Luck to the inside of that one, Momentus still skimming the rail, another length to Thanks For Nothing, Face Your Fears next to that one, gap of a length and a half to Winter Solstice, People Doubted on his flank and Chayse continued to trail, eight lengths from the front end.

Moving around the clubhouse turn and onto the backside, and we had four and a half furlongs to run, And Techfluence moved up three wide to go in front by a half length.  Sunlander along the inside, Raj Action Packed still between that pair, then a length back to Blame It On Luck, Momentus continued to save ground, another length back to Face Your Fears, Thanks For Nothing on his outside, Winter Solstice saving ground, People Doubted four wide and Chayse still the back marker.

Around the far turn and into the lane with a quarter mile to run, we had four across the track and a bunch coming after them… Raj Action Packed, Techfluence, Blame It On Luck and Sunlander, another length back to Momentus, Winter Solstice and Face Your Fears, three giving chase, another length to Thanks For Nothing five wide, People Doubted six wide and Chayse.

Now inside the furlong marker and to the finish, Blame It On Luck now with a neck in front, Raj Action Packed not going away… these two battling to the finish as the others tried to close in late.  Blame It On Luck now by a neck, but Raj Action Packed made another lunge at him and as they hit the wire it was bang-bang and the PHOTO sign went up on the infield tote board.  After viewing the instant video replay Blame It On Luck held on by a nose to take the win, Raj Action Pack was a hard-luck second, then a half length to Winter Solstice in third.  Techfluence nosed out Sunlander for fourth, Face Your Fears in sixth, Momentus was seventh, Chayse was eighth, People Doubted ninth and Thanks For Nothing closed this one out.

Blame It On Luck is a 4yo black gelded son of Slither – More Booty, by Broomstick Nebraska, and he was bred by Night Mare Racing in Cal.  Mb Stables acquired him prior to starting his racing career via private sale for $48.000.  This was his third win from fourteen starts, his first graded win and he now shows earnings of $366.860.

Blame It On Luck broke well, forwardly placed while tracking the leaders, up to put a nose in front inside the furlong marker, all out to prevail.  Raj Action Packed tracked the pace throughout, up to take a short lead into the lane, headed, continued on well, just missed.  Winter Solstice settled off of the pace, moved up through the far turn, good late effort.  Techfluence away well, took the lead around the clubhouse turn, headed, game, flattened out late.  Sunlander away quickly to take the early lead, tracked the pace after being headed, loomed into the lane, could not go on.  Face Your Fears evenly while no threat.  Momentus ground saving trip to no avail.  Chayse trailed, no factor.  People Doubted gave a dull effort.  Thanks For Nothing tired.
