Mb Stables Has a Fleeting Affair with Iowa Oaks

The Iowa Oaks – Grade III
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $200.00 Filly 3 Year Olds.

1st Fleeting Affair, trained by Mb Stables

Getting into the stalk from the inside draw was priority number one
for her chances and that box was ticked early on. The second box to be
ticked was the end of the race where she had previously weakened at
or around this trip. Today however that box was ticked with the slower
mid part of the race playing into her hands and she had enough left to
hold on by a half length. There is no doubting this is a nice filly
but i think her trip is a mile and we may not see her moving towards
the big fillies BC championship.

2nd Effortless Admiral, trained by Ekli Stable

The slower pace allowed her to lay up closer than usual but that was
where the race ended for her as she couldnt use her stamina at the end
of the race despite closing valiantly. This was another decent effort
and i really think we will see the best of her when she stretches out
even further.

3rd Stellar, trained by M b o Racing Stable
Taken to the back and stayed on nicely for third albeit a well beaten one.
The average early pace didnt suit her effort today and she did well enough
in the circumstanes to finish where she did.

4th Jewel In The Sand, trained by Our Athletes
The outside post is generally the kiss of death and even with a sluggish pace
the good filly couldnt keep up any sort of gallop down the stretch. Her
stamina was always questionable and with the wide speed push she was destined to
run like this.

5th Laff Night Out
Got into a good position but faded at the end and she may be looking for a mid
season break.

6th Call Me Lucky
The winners stable mate once again failed to live up to her SA Oaks second and
never really got into the race.

7th White Bikini
Taken to the trail off a slow pace her chances were gone before they had gone a
quarter mile.
