Two Year Olds

A field of ten two year olds here has been entered up for the grade three DeMille Stakes over the turf course here at Del Mar. Big field with one graded stakes winner in the bunch. Let’s look at the field.

1. Dream State (5-2-2-1 $235.200), trained by Mb Stables

First up in the field here and this horse was third in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf in his last start. Kind of quick turnaround here but if he is still on form he will be pretty tough against this field.

2. Puffman (3-2-0-0 $44.400), trained by Keikowin Racing

Next up this horse here and he tried stakes company last time in the Indian Summer and he did not fare well. This will be his first time around two turns. Not sure how he’ll run but one of the longshots here.

3. Mr Orange (9-2-0-3 $147.280), trained by Arindel

Well here we have one who has had a steady campaign this far with nine starts already. The graded stakes winner here and he was fifth last time in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint. First time going long though and a lot of traveling could make the difference.

4. Gordon Shumway (5-2-1-0 $54.200), trained by High Voltage

Next up here another horse who will be stretching out to a route for the first time. He is usually pretty quick early so I think he will be up close to the lead in the early stages.

5. Non Negotiable (4-0-0-0 $3.120), trained by Maze Stables

A maiden in the field here who really does not belong at all and not even sure why this horse has been entered here. I do not think he has any shot whatsoever and is probably just in the way here.

6. Valid Point (4-2-2-0 $135.630), trained by Mb Stables

Second for Mb Stables right here and this horse is coming into this race off of a stakes win in the Awad. I think he has also a very good chance for Mb Stables that’s for sure.

7. People Pleaser (7-3-0-2 $282.750), trained by Mb Stables

Third and final entry for Mb Stables here and this horse was third in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint in his last race. First time going a route for him though so not sure how he will perform here.

8. General Principle (4-2-0-1 $51.220), trained by Nakamura Stables

And next up in the field here is this horse and he was soundly beaten by seven lengths in his last start. That was his only stakes try so sont think he will stand much of a chance in here.

9. Darth Charley (6-2-0-1 $121.360), trained by Diablo Diablo

Well like a lot in this race this horse is also making his first start at a route. Thirteenth on the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint last time so going to need to run a lot better here.

10. Burr (7-4-0-1 $101.000), trained by Angelos Stable

Final runner in the field here and he is coming out of the Awad also where he fourth. A claimer before that and he will have to run huge from this outside post.

Summary

Well it would appear that Mb Stables is the tough one in the field with two of his three runners in here. The inside runner is not top choice. Good luck to all in the field.
