Mb Will Watch Two Lose to Win The PID Masters Stakes

The PID Masters Stakes – Grade II
PID   Race #2   6 1/2f   Dirt   Graded Stake
Purse $400.000  For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.

1 Happy Clapper, trained by John Henry
This four year old is very consistent cashing a cheque in all of her graded stakes appearances this year and she couldve easily have got three stakes wins and not just the one. A daughter of Quench she was a very game third in the Great Lady M Stakes last time from this draw just out battled by Fall Festivities who she faces again today. The fact that the three year old weight allowance is half what it was that day gives this filly a much better chance and i expect a good showing from her.

2 Her Lucky Day, trained by Mb Stables
Third in the SUN Oaks she was brought back to this trip when weakening late in the Acorn and showed she has the pace for sprinting with a win in the Union Avenue. Working similar times to the older horses she will need the two pound allowance to give her a hope nd as usual any three year old from the massive Mb Stables has a big hope.

3 Turn On The Lights, trained by D J C Racing Stables
She hated the mud in The Matron finishing well behind by apart from that anomaly is a consistent sort who has won at grade three level. Admittedly that win came last October so its been a while since she has won but two close thirds at the same level this year suggest she is still as good. A little slower on the gallops she may find one or two too hot for her today.

4 You Are My Sunshine, trained by Stone Creek Farm
The usual story with these horses, a three year old working the same time as older stakes winners and getting a couple of pounds and that usually means they are in the top four. This filly has won five from eight this year but they have all been in lower grade although that of course means nothing with no class system. A good third in the Bernardo Handicap last time she could win or finish last, take your pick.

5 Darling Smile, trained by Mb Stables
The fastest worker and getting the three year old weight allowance…this race is done and dusted. Although she has struggled since taking the Forward Gal back in February she won an overnight faster than most of these have won stakes races last time so i suspect the rest may be fighting for place money.

6 Cozzene Scandal, trained by Night Rider Stables
A very consistent five year old, she led from a wide draw and weakened as expected in this race last year and gets another wide draw today. She hasnt been seen since May which is a slight worry but her works are quick enough if she isnt too rusty.

7 Fall Festivities, trained by Mb Stables
I assume Mb Stables wanted first and second in this race as he has the second best three year old here but although Darling Smile may have quicker work times this one has achieved more on the race course.

SUMMARY
For the life of me, I can,t see the enjoyment of watching a seven horse race when three of them are mine, and I will be guaranteed to watch two of those lose the race. But clearly Mb Stables enjoys this sort of thing and has a real chance of taking 1st 2nd and 3rd in this race.
