Last month, Mb Stables claimed Mexican Pride for $50.000, and wasted no time moving her forward with her entry into the Serenas Song. She had shown the ability to win, doing so in three of her first five races, and she would do so again with this wire to wire win. The win is the first in this race for both trainer Mb Stables and jockey G Corrales. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:09.26, and that’s the quickest of the three editions thus far. Let’s take a look at it!

(1/4 Mile- :22.40)- Mexican Pride, our eventual winner from Mb Stables, wastes no time going out to the front, and clears the field by a length and a half as they work their way down the backstretch. The Pan Farms- trained Ayita holds the second position, half a length to the outside of Panionios Racing’s Z Jinxed. Killer Conquistador runs in the middle of the pack by herself for Greyfriars Stable. Overwhelming post time favorite Party At The Shire (Nakamura Stables) follows her, and the trailer is Pointed Out (D J C Racing Stables).

(½ Mile- :45.48, Top of Stretch, 1.5F To Go)- Mexican Pride pours it on at the end of the backstretch and while rounding the turn, extending her lead to about two and a half. Now, she looks to be in the drivers seat for the stretch, and it will take a lot for someone else to catch her unless she suddenly fatigues. Ayita is a clear second now, as she puts away Z Jinxed. That one fades, and is about to passed by Killer Conquistador. Meanwhile, if you were waiting for the big favorite, Party At The Shire, to kick it in gear, the opposite happens as she is passed by Pointed Out.

(Finish- 1:09.26)- With a furlong to go, there is clearly no one that is going to catch Mexican Pride, so we can sit back and watch her run to the wire in convincing fashion. Her win will be by a length and a half, as Ayita was a little better in the final strides to secure her runner up. Pointed Out closed well to be third, with the disappointing Party At The Shire missing the board entirely. Z Jinxed was not the one, but was better than Killer Conquistador.

About The Winner- Mexican Pride, trained by Mb Stables and ridden to victory by G Corrales, is a three year old filly by Pinks Pride and is out of Zions Tex Mex. She was bred by La Canada Racehorses as a second quarter two year old in California, and was acquired by Mb Stables with a $50.000 claim last month. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her fourth in six starts, and first stake win. Her career earnings are now $158.130.
