Million In Mind Takes LAPN Matron

LAPN Matron
$125.000 For F&M Four Years Old And Upward
5 Furlongs – Dirt
Delta Downs – February 7, 2026

At the top of the stretch, they were almost five across the track, but it was obvious on the turn that Million In Mind was moving best of all and was ready to make her 2026 debut a winning one. She circled the field and looked like a winner throughout the stretch and was never seriously challenged at the wire.

Winner: Million In Mind (Asgar/C.H. Borel) Two Million/Charley Trance (Charley Farley) After a disappointing run in her final 2025 race Million In Mind was confidently handled by jockey Borel and sat patiently until a quarter of a mile to go. She was asked for run around the final turn and gave it circling the field and powering home for a dominating win to begin her year.

Second: Touch Of Oak (Maxmillion Farm/Jo Dominguez) Worst Case Scenario/Alexandrite (Put In Work) Broke well and pressed the pace from a perfect stalking position. Ran alongside fellow pace presser Miss La Lune the entire way and battled that one all the way to the wire eventually gaining a gritty second. She has finished second in three straight state bred stakes contests and is due to win one of these.

Third: Miss La Lune (Xcel Racing/D. Cohen) La Lune Rain/Miss Marlene (Black Superman) Challenged for the lead as the gates opened and settled back in a close stalking position along with Touch Of Oak on her outside. She shadowed the pacesetter to the top of the stretch. Drew alongside but was quickly passed by the rallying winner. Fought had for the place spot but gave way late to Touch Of Oak.

Fourth: Miss Organa (Alydar Stables/J. NavMarin) Laffin Hero/Baby Goes To Rio (Sneaky Little Pirate) Showed her typical speed from the start and led the field through the first half mile. Was caught at the top of the stretch but fought hard to the wire eventually yielding late but holding on for the final check.

Preview Pick: Oeuvre Rain finished fifth in a five-horse field, so our prognostication powers took a beating. She did however spot all four rivals two pounds, and she was closing steadily if not dramatically under the impost. Equal weights and we still judge her to be right there.

This was the first LAPN Matron win for both Asgar and C.H. Borel. This is the third stakes win for Million In Mind who is a graded stakes placed four-year-old filly bred by Asgar. The win brings her career earnings to a total of $314.520. Asgar remains the leading LA breeder mostly by virtue of stellar LA homebred No Real Drama who ran a near miss second in the lucrative Pegasus World Cup in January.
