Minnesota Moni Takes River City

River City Handicap – Grade III
1 1/8 Mile Turf Stake Purse $100.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Minnesota Moni The Sidley Stud Bridgmohan S X

If ever there was proof that overnights and graded stakes are pretty much the same at HRP then this was it. This has been a good horse for a long time winning ten races but nearly all of those wins and the places have been at fair to low level winning allowances and small track ungraded stakes. Today he gamely won by a head in his best race so far but i am pretty sure his trainer wont get too excited and will be back to those small allowances before too long.
This is a good stable winner and he thoroughly deserves it and maybe, just maybe he could be one of those late maturing types.

2nd Mean Street Nakamura Stables Hernandez B J Jr

This eight year old was working almost a second quicker than the winner over the mile but his old legs just couldnt get the job done on race day getting out battled in the fight to the line.

3rd Rebel Force Wolfs Den Ortiz J L

Kept on well for third but never really threatened the first two, its still a bit up in the air as to which surface he prefers.

4th Wonder Threshold Landeros C

Despite the trainer trying to negate the outside speed push with instructions to his jokey he was politely ignored and this one raced wide in the lead which was never going to result in the win.
