Mortality Starts on the Road to Immortality in Alexandra Stakes

Alexandra Stakes – Grade II [KYO]
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.

1st Mortality, trained by John Henry
In the end it was the work that won the race as this previously only fair filly broke into the big time with a dominant win. Happy to sit off the pace she quickened up nicely for a three quarter length win and stamped herself as a real KYO hopeful. Bought for $210.000 in December her works have had rapid improvement all over them and the sub 1.36 work she did at the beginning of the month spelt trouble for her rivals.

2nd Easy Time, trained by Waldo
Ran another super race from up on the speed and has become a super consistent filly. Her trainer has a real KYO hope here but she may turn out to be a miler rather than needing a real long trip.

3rd Laff How, trained by Gdp Inc
Trailed the field for much of the race and finished strongly for third. This was a nice effort from a filly that hadnt raced in graded company before and I would take a good hard look at her next time out.

4th Talent Quest, trained by Mb Stables
Even with three horses all priced at eight to one or less the champion trainer could only manage 4th. This one made the running but was swamped in the end and beaten by the filly she beat last time out. It will be back to the drawing board for now.
