For Fillies Three Years Old

November 25, 2022

At least half the fillies in this field deserve a close look. There are a couple of rematches in this field. Scalp finished just a neck behind Venture In Belief in the Valley View. Lady Hilltopper will also face off against Venture In Belief for a second time. They met in the Pebbles, which Lady Hilltopper won and Venture In Belief finished fifth. Tabitha Stephens beat Scalp in the Lake Placid but couldn’t get back to the winner’s circle in either of her subsequent starts.

And if that’s not enough for you, here’s the field:

#1 Scalp (Spankys Barn) Won the Lake George (Grade 3) in July, then finished off the board in the Lake Placid (Grade 2) before coming up just a neck short in the Valley View (Grade 3) last out. A very strong competitor, and a win wouldn’t be a surprise.

#2 Lady Hilltopper (Black N Gold Stable) Back-to-back wins for this filly, including the Sands Point last out and the Pebbles before that. Looks to make it three in a row and just might get it done.

#3 Tabitha Stephens (Mb Stables) Won the Lake Placid in August but couldn’t hit the board in either of her following starts. Those two starts were longer than she may want to go. Wouldn’t count her out in this one.

#4 Glip Glop (TwinTowersRacing) Second in the SAR Oaks in August, but hasn’t done much since. May be a bit outclassed in this group.

#5 The Intouchables (Smokey Stover) Last win for this filly came in April in the Fantasy (Grade 3). The closest she’s come to the winner’s circle was a second in allowance company at DMR in August. Will need a top effort to compete here.

#6 Ace Queen (Ace Racing Stable) Sprinter trying to stretch it out here. Stakes winner at 5 furlongs, but the distance here has to be a big question mark. Wait and see on this one.

#7 Venture In Belief (Night Rider Stables) Won the Valley View last out over Scalp. Before that she finished well behind Lady Hilltopper in the Pebbles. Look for her up front early and she just might hang on to the finish.
