Nakamura Stables “Steels” Houston Ladies Classic

Nakamura Stables had a real good Saturday… no reason to turn off the heat as Miss Steel Mazula showed good speed throughout Sunday’s HOU Ladies Classic (GIII) and got home clear by a length in a final time of 1:41.54 for the mile and a sixteenth main track stakes.  The track was listed as Fast.  Post time favorite, and my top pick, Naples raced mid-pack then closed well to gain the second spot by a quarter length over pace-setter Pink N Bold, with Hot Summer taking the minor share.

Miss Steel Mazula is a 5yo bay mare by Mazula Ruler – Valyrian Steel, by Dawn Invasion, and she was bred in Cal by LionKing Stables.  Acquired by Nakamura Stables at the June 2019 Auction for $3.69, prior to her racing career, she now shows eight wins from eighteen starts and lifetime earnings of $1,016.170.  Congrats to the connections!

Miss Steel Mazula broke alertly, tracked the pace 2p until midway on the far turn, moved past pace, held sway late.  Naples second flight until the far turn, split rivals top of the lane, second best.  Pink N Bold set the pace to mid-way on the far turn, ceded.  Hot Summer forwardly placed throughout, evenly late.  Mag Ol under wraps, passed rivals late.  Laffy Crack no factor.  Wbf No Regrets was never a threat.  Zombie Storm was outrun.  Bay Of Indy mid-pack, tired.
