Nevada Silver, racing in the silks of Nakamura Stables, broke alertly and never looked back in the $200.000 G3 Saranac at SAR on Saturday. Jockey L. Saez put his horse on the front-end and enjoyed an unchallenged throughout the majority of the race.
Nevada Silver set legitimate fractions of :23.51/:46.76 while enjoying no less than a two length lead over Into Pieces. That runner was a clear second as Pollards Vision and Flesh Of My Flesh tracked him from the four path and rail poistion, respectively. Baller Alert, the only other horse running with that group was only a length behind them and racing in the two path.
When the leader reached three quarters in 1:09.84, he had increased his lead to three-lengths. Into Pieces was still second and racing from the three path, but he was about to be joined by Flesh Of My Flesh and Baller Alert. Pollards Vision, racing widest, was still in touch with the leaders, but was starting to struggle keeping pace.
As Nevada Silver entered the stretch, it was clear that Flesh Of My Flesh and Baller Alert were the only two horses with a chance of catching him. The Arindel and D J C Racing Stables horses kept gaining throughout the stretch and made the finish tight; however, Nevada Silver held them off. In the end, the Nakamura Stables sophomore prevailed by a neck over Baller Alert with Flesh Of My Flesh another neck back in third. Completing the order of finish were Into Pieces, Abominable, Off Track Torcher, Pollards Vision, and Plan To Wheel.
Nevada Silver improved to 8-3-1-1 with the win and now has earnings of $215.250 for his career. For his victory, he received four BC points; Baller Alert was rewarded with two BC points for the place and Flesh Of My Flesh took home the last BC point available to the runners.
