Not A Big Deal doesn’t always run big, but when she does, she is among the best of her crop in one-turn races.  Saturday’s $250.000 G2 Prioress proved to be one of the days that Not A Big Deal was ready for battle.  It was a podium sweep for conditioner Mb Stables as the 1-2-3 finishers all hail from his barn.

When the gates sprang, it was Wow who broke best and the D J C Racing Stables filly took the field through a first quarter in :22.78.  A length and a half back, there was a three horse group of Mycrazyexgirlfriend, Bronx Belle, and Power Walk.  That trio was followed by another group of three that consisted of Actualize, Not A Big Deal, and Smiling Lucy.

When the leader reached the 1/4 pole after completing a half-mile in :45.70, she found herself on the inside of a four-horse line as Power Walk, Bronx Belle, and Mycrazyexgirlfriend were all within a length and stacked to her outside.  Not A Big Deal was tipped at least five-wide to begin her assault on the front-running quartet.

When they reached the furlong marker, it was clear that the G2 race had turned into a final sprint for barn superiority.  Power Walk was leading, but Mycrazyexgirlfriend and Not A Big Deal were charging up on her outside.  In the end, it would be Not A Big Deal who struck the wire first, completing the six panels in 1:08.97, just missing the stakes record.  Power Walk was able to fend off Mycrazyexgirlfriend for the place while Smiling Lucy was another half-length back in fourth.

Not A Big Deal secured six G1 BC F&M Sprint points with her win and improves her record to 15-8-1-1 with earnings of $944.580.  Power Walk was awarded four BC points for holding-off Mycrazyexgirlfriend who was awarded two points.  Congratulations to Mb Stables on the sweep and to Not A Big Deal for her win in the $250.000 G2 Prioress!
