Nice Field for The Marine Stakes

The Marine Stakes – GIII

Three Year Olds

Well here we have a field of six three year olds that will be contesting the running of this years grade three Marine Stakes here at Woodbine Racetrack. It is a solid field for sure and it should be a fun race to watch. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Piraya (11-3-2-3 $126.920), trained by John Henry

And here we have our first runner in the field and this horse is coming into this race off of two wins in a row. He just won the FON Stakes in wire to wire fashion and that’s how he has won both of his last two. He likes to show speed so a slow pace will help him out for sure.

2. Pure At Forty (6-1-1-0 $38.040), trained by Joshua Stables

The second runner in the field is making a big step down in class for this race as he just ran ninth in the grade one Florida Derby. Before that he won a maiden special weight at Gulfstream. He is making a big step down in class so that will help him out and I think he may have a chance.

3. Pal O Mine (10-3-3-1 $185.560), trained by Hawaiian Shirt Guy

Now to this runner who is also a stakes winner when he won the Mine That Bird Derby at Sunland Park. He ran a big race that day and an effort like that would put him right there in this spot. I think that he will have a pretty good chance in here.

4. Dauzac (5-1-1-2 $24.900), trained by TwinTowers Racing

And now to the number four runner in the field and he is a lightly raced horse who is coming into this spot off of a third place finish in an allowance race at Churchill. He is an improving horse and I think that it will take him a couple races before he is ready for this competition.

5. Star Kommander (5-2-2-0 $61.940), trained by Kingellinc

And the next runner in the field right here is coming into this spot off of a two race win streak. He beat an allowance field in his last start over this same track and that was a big win for him. I think he will have a pretty good chance in this race for sure.

6. Golden Boy (9-2-1-2 $266.600), trained by D J C Racing Stables

And our final runner in the field that we take a look at it is coming into this race off of an eighth place finish in the grade three Bay Shore. He had a lot of hype last year as a two year old but it seems he hasn’t shown that so far. He is talented but a tough post for sure.
Summary

Well this looks like a very evenly matched field to me and I think that really any one of the six could win with some racing luck. My top pick is going to be Pal O Mine as he gets back in against three year olds. Good luck to all in the field.
