For the third year in a row of a race that has only been run five times, the same trainer has won a race. No, that’s not Mb Stables, although he did take the first two. Instead, it is Night Rider Stables, who showed his strength in this race once again. Trumpomatic had a two race winning streak of his own coming into the race, although those were in statebred claimers. He’s race at this level before, and today he showed that he still belongs at this level with the win. Aboard the winner was D Davis, doing so for the first time. The time of the win was 1:35.02, slightly faster then last year’s time. Let’s take a look!
(1/4 Mile- :24.18)- American Ideal takes the early lead for Nakamura Stables as no one is particularly hurried out of the starting gate. He holds a slight advantage over Hide The Lemon, hoping to get a big win for Ace Racing Stable. Our eventual winner, Trumpomatic from Night Rider Stables, was not initially with them, but began to inch closer to the front while in the third lane after the first two furlongs. Feathers Not Dots stalks them for Team 7 Illusions. Trailing, but only three lengths from the lead were both Z Stoned One (Gdp Inc) and Dodger Blue (RNP Stables).
(½ Mile- :48.05)- Trumpomatic may have won the race during this portion of the race. After passing a quarter mile, and blew on by both American Ideal and Hide The Lemon in the backstretch, and was not content with just making the pass. Instead, he would open up a lead of two and a half lengths as they began to move around the turn. American Ideal was still second, and Feathers Not Dots moved to his outside and Hide The Lemon kept pace on the rail. Z Stoned One and Dodger Blue remained at the back.
(Top Of Stretch, 1.7F To Go)- Trumpomatic looks like he has gotten away from them at this point. He has not extended his lead any further, but that two length lead was looking pretty formidable right now given he was still in full stride. Feathers Not Dots cleared the two he had been running with to now be second, but he had a lot of work to do to make a run at the lead. American Ideal and Hide The Lemon were not making a further push, and both Z Stoned One and Dodger Blue were creeping a little closer.
(Finish- 1:35.02)- The lead that Trumpomatic opened up in the second quarter of the race proved insurmountable for the rest of the field. During the stretch, we saw Feathers Not Dots get closer, but he never posed a serious threat to our race winner here who takes the race pretty easily. Feathers Not Dots is a clear second best here, finishing a length ahead of the third place American Ideal. Hide The Lemon takes fourth over Z Stoned One and Dodger Blue.
About The Winner- Trumpomatic, trained by Night Rider Stables, ridden by D Davis, is a five year old gelding by the late Wild Zebra, and is out of Bevcallsalltheshotzz. He was bred in New York as a first quarter two year old by Langley Farms and acquired by Night Rider Stables in a $15.000 maiden claiming race. The win is his seventh in 21 starts, and his second stake win. His career earnings are now $467.700.
