    9    SAR     The Spinaway (GI)

The days are getting shorter, the pools are closed, the kids are headed back to school and The Spa season is winding down, but not before we get a nice field for The Spinaway (GI) a seven furlong stakes for the gals, and we get a nice group for the 2021 running of this important race.  I’m sorry but I just can’t get past Incendiary in this one… she’s been next to perfect and looks heads-and-tails the best to me.  Back to back graded wins, four wins in a row, Mb Stables just keeps sending out monsters and this filly sure does seem to qualify.  I’ll go right next door and put Believe In Miracles in the second spot.  I know her only stakes race was vs. NY-bred, but it was over this track and that was a tough bunch of horses. 

It’s still early in their freshman campaign, so anything could happen, but let’s settle on the choices and see how we do.

Here’s The Field –

Got the job done last out facing Cal-bred maidens.  She’s never been off of the board in three starts, the other two being open maiden company, so they jump into the deep end of the pool here.  The barn has been hot, so she may be worth keeping an eye on. 

Well, she came out of the barn running… second in her first out race then has torn it up winning four in a row including the FT Debutante, Schuylerville (GIII) and Adirondack (GII), the later being over this track.  You want to bet against her, go ahead, I’ll be standing in line hitting the win button over and over and over. 

Broke maiden at first asking then ran third after setting the pace in the Stillwater, facing NY-bred stakes horses.  The winner of that race came back to be second in the Adirondack (GII) so you know there was some class in that race.  She may come with some odds and I would not count her out. 

Broke maiden at second asking, winning by three out at GG, then was sixth in the My Dear Stakes up north of the border, where she just never seemed to get going but was only beaten two lengths.  Three works over this surface so it sure does look like they were pointing to this race. 

Broke maiden at first asking then gave an even effort to be fifth vs Alw company over this track in her second time to the gate.  She was the post time favorite in that one, so it was a bit of a let down, but she looks like a nice horse and may have just had a less than perfect trip.  Give her a chance to rebound. 

The third in the three-part Fractious entry in this one and this is her first start so this is certainly asking a lot.  She shows solid works, but this would be an upset if she pulls it off… is she a super horse?

Broke maiden in her third trip to the gate, then came back to close well and run third over this surface while facing Alw horses.  She shows a late turn of foot, so the added distance may be just what she’s looking for.  I’d giver her a punchers chance today. 

Looked good breaking maiden in her second start down at CD, then came back to be fourth in the Schuylerville (GIII) here at the Spa in her next start.  She tired a bit in that one, so they will need to change some tactics if they want to be in the running here.

Nice win in her second start breaking maiden at PRX.  Sold after that race and makes her first start for the new connections.  She shows a late run in both starts, so the added distance may be just what she wants.  Still, it’s a tough step up in class, so she will need her very best to get it done here.
