RACE 4 BEL The Brooklyn (GII)
$400.000 4yo&Up 1 1/2m Dirt
It’s a classy group that will line up for The Brooklyn (GII), a marathon mile and a half stakes on the main track here in Elmont, NY. I’m giving Hyper Silver the big nod today… he just seems to be the one that has everything you want in a winner. He’s won his last two at big odds, and I have a feeling you won’t see double-digits here today. I’m throwing a couple of horses under him that will make nice paying exactas since there no real standout, at least in my eye. Good luck to everyone here today!
Here’s the field….

Graceful Shadow | Aer Stables | Albarado R J 8/1 | 123 |
He changed hands via private sale for $176.000 after winning a nice Alw race at today’s extended distance, and he certainly shows some back class, loving to run all day. He’s a 6yo now, but still shows the want and ability to run with just about anyone at the marathon route. Give him a serious look.

Chonburi | Emerald Racing Inc | Ortiz I Jr 20/1 | 123 |
Hasn’t seen the winner’s circle since last season, and was up the track at CT last out in Classic. He’s certainly been around for minor shares in these marathon races, but I’m going to have to look at some others after those last three duds.

Victory Meal | Pumpkin Racing | Velazquez J R 12/1 | 123 |
Was that a bounce last out? Eighth in the Excelsior (GIII) at AQU after winning back to back races, including the Skip Away (GIII) at GP, going a mile and three-sixteenths. I’m just not sure who we see in this one, so that makes me want to go in a different direction… but he could burn me.
|
Hyper Silver | Night Rider Stables | Maragh R 5/2 | 123 |
Back to back stakes wins here in NY, both at AQU, including the Excelsior (GIII) and was third in the mud at FG against graded horses in his only seasonal loss. Won half of his starts in ’14… so you get the picture. This son-of-a-gun can run and is tough every time out.
|
George Washington | Spankys Barn | Smith M E 10/1 | 123 |
Seems to be an all or nothing type… Won the Razorback Hcp (GIII) at OP, but has been off the board in a bunch of his recent starts, including a tenth place finish at CT last out. Like a box of chocolates, you just don’t know what you’re going to get, but that stuff makes me break-out so I’m looking at others.
|
Suns Out Guns Out | Wolfs Den | Potts C L 12/1 | 123 |
Another that just didn’t fire at CT and also hasn’t seen the winner’s circle in quite a while. Won three of twelve starts last year, but he’s going to have to find some old magic to get back to the winner’s circle. I think they’d be happy with a minor share here today.
|
Twisted Estate | Mb Stables | Leparoux J R 10/1 | 123 |
Fourth in last years BC Classic (GI) and kicked-off the season with a win but it’s been a bad case of “stop” since then. Now, they try to go even further which really makes me scratch my head. He could be part of it on his best effort, but it looks like those days may have come and gone.
|
Dogs Infowarrior | Grimley | Castellano J J 6/1 | 123 |
Won the Mineshaft Hcp (GIII) at FG on a wet surface back in Feb. and he’s another that seems to be reaching a bit to go a mile and a half. Failed as the favorite in both of his last two starts, and the post does him no favors here. He needs his best to be in the picture here.
|
General Chimaera | Sanny Village | Bejarano R 8/1 | 123 |
I know he’s hasn’t won since last July, and I know he caught the outside post, but there’s something about his style that makes me like him a little bit, at the right price. The barn has been hot of late so don’t count him out.
