Woooooo! Flair gets the job done. Although she trailed early, Greeko Holdem’s Charlotte Flair just kept on coming… and pulled clear late to take the NM Classic Cup Distaff by a length. Stable mate (and my top choice) General Vegan was second, with Skinny Dancer in third and Romany Force in fourth.
The field of four were away from the gate with General Vegan away quickest of all, Skinny Dancer to he outside, Charlotte Flair and Romany Force from the rail.
Continue down the back stretch, the opening quarter in :223 and Skinny Dancer continued to show the way by a length. General Vegan was keeping the pressure on the leader, then a gap of two back to Romany Force on the inside and Charlotte Flair on her flank, three lengths covered the field.
Around the far turn and nearing the top of the lane with two furlongs to go, the half went in :453 and Skinny Dancer was still in front by a half length. General Vegan was still applying the heat and was on the inside of the leader. It was a gap of three back to Romany Force and Charlotte Flair felt the sting of the whip and was asked to get going, four lengths from the leader.
Now inside the final furlong, Skinny Dancer and General Vegan were noses apart… and now Charlotte Flair was flying down the middle of the track with winning on her mind, with Romany Force now last on the rail.
Inside the final 100 yards and down to the wire, this was all about Charlotte Flair and she just flew by to take the win, widening late. General Vegan continued on well to take the second spot with Skinny Dancer in third and Romany Force rounded this one out.
Charlotte Flair is a 3yo bay filly by Caleb – Real Flair, by Revolutionary, and she was bred in NM by her owner, Geeko Holdem. This was her third win from seven starts and this rising star has been on the board in all of her starts. This was her first stakes victory but look for her in any upcoming NM bred race as she should be tough to hold down. Congrats to Charlotte Flair and her connections.
