Tortured Valley is looking to stretch his winning stretch to 4. Bold Eagle and Skipping Stone face off against each other for the second time in as many starts. This appears to be a very evenly matched field.

1 Tortured Valley
Owner: Nakamura Stables
Breeder: 30west

Won in a dead heat last out in CA-bred Optional Claiming company. Showed heart in a three-way battle down the stretch. Might have gone by with a little more distance which could benefit him here.

 2 Oliverstravels
Owner/Breeder: Running Farms

Won easily at N1X level at SA and scored a 99 SRF – and that after a 5-month layoff. Should be primed for this one. The biggest question for him is the distance.

3 Lettucerocku
Owner/Breeder: Night Mare Racing

Won the $75.000 FON Stakes at 1 1/16 mile. Followed that up with back to back graded attempts, with a 3rd and a 4th. The drop in class should be a plus. May be flying at the wire.

4 Bold Eagle
Owner: Spankys Barn
Breeder: Wild Aces Stables

Winless this year but has been close in all 4 starts. 2nd in the $100.000 CA-bred Crystal Water Stakes in his last start. Scored a 101 SRF in November in the 1 1/16 mile Tropical Turf Handicap (G3). Will be tough.

5 Skipping Stone
Owner: Night Rider Stables
Breeder: Barcelona Farms

Faced off against Bold Eagle in the Crystal Water. Even though he finished 4th behind 3nd place Bold Eagle, they virtually hit the wire together. Has finished in the money at this distance.

6 Armed
Owner: Joshua Stables
Breeder: Mb Stables

Just 4 starts for this 3-year-old gelding. The only time he finished off the board was the only time he stretched to 1 1/16 mile. No stakes experience. Will have to step it up to compete here.

7 Pass The Pesos
Owner: Australia Wide
Breeder: Riggins Racing

In the money in all 3 starts this year. But none of those wins were beyond 7 furlongs. Last year he won back-to-back state-bred allowances beyond a mile, so the distance shouldn’t be a problem. Very consistent. Even when he loses he’s always close.
