No Standout in The Commonwealth Turf

                              Three Year Olds

A field of six three year old turf runners will be lining up for this race and it’s a pretty good race on paper. It looks like a pretty evenly matched field to me and whoever wins will definitely run a very big race. It’s going to be a good race I think. Let’s take a look at this same field of six runners.

1. Diamond Back (12-4-1-2 $173.310), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Well this runner here pretty much one gear out of the gate and that is go to the lead. It doesn’t really matter if he is sprinting or routing he goes to lead and tries to take the field gate to wire. It’s usually not a very good tactic but just every once in a while. Maybe this will be a race it works off.

2. Settlement Agreement (9-2-1-1 $59.980), trained by Our Athletes

This horse is kind of like the runner to his inside as he likes to go to the lead and try to take them gate to wire. He did that last time in the Laurel Turf Cup but he faded to a seventh place finish. If him and the inside runner both blow to the front there may be a pace meltdown in here for a closer.

3. Sweeping Dragonville (7-2-1-1 $151.150), trained by Drabfantasy

This horse right here isn’t a bad horse at all and he is a stakes winner. He likes to close from way back sometimes and sometimes he likes to go to the front. He tried to close from way back last time but only finish seventh but he made up quite a bit of ground. He may have a chance in this field.

4. Maniaco del Controll (14-3-2-1 $52.980), trained by Threshold

This horse right here isn’t a bad runner at all and he is a three time winner. He ran fifth in the grade two Hill Prince and closed from pretty far back to run fifth and got beat by two lengths. He has a pretty decent chance in this race if he runs a big race in here and I think that is possible.

5. Xmas Snow (10-3-0-1 $175.660), trained by Maxmillion Farm

Here is a graded stakes winner who won the grade three La Jolla with a front running performance that day. He also ran third in the grade two Del Mar Derby after that La Jolla win. He didn’t run good at all last time in the Hill Prince where he ran sixth. If he runs back to the La Jolla win he has a good chance.

6. Greek Of Nature (10-3-3-0 $96.070), trained by Our Athletes

The other runner from Our Athletes in the field and this horse has been running in some stakes but has been very unsuccessful to this point. But this is a short field and there is a better chance for him to win. If he runs a big race he might have a very good chance to win this race. He has a chance maybe.

Summary

Well I don’t see a standout in this field at all and there is not much of an obvious pick in here. I am going to go with Xmas Snow as my top pick because he is at least a graded stakes winner on the year. There is not a big favorite or anything in here so it maybe exciting. Good luck to all in this race.
