Nothing Given Scores First GI In DMR Oaks

GI – DMR Oaks

$300.000 Graded Stake 1 1/8 Miles on Turf for Filly Three Year Olds

With a small field of five fillies loading into the gate for the GI DMR Oaks Nothing Given would go off as the betting favorite after her win in the $225.000 Wonder Where Stakes at WO last time out. She would not disappoint either as she was able to make it two in a row for her connections.

Early in the race the two outside horses, Tightness and Drop Her Off would go to the front and clear the field giving them the perfect rail trip. Behind them would sit Nothing Given, Commanding Faith and Killer Angels with the field all within five lengths of each other.

As they entered the final turn Nothing Given and Commanding Faith would swing to the outside and start closing the gap on the leaders. Down the stretch jockey Leparoux J R would kick it into high gear aboard Nothing Given and make her move past the leader Tightness with a furlong to go and finish nearly a length ahead with Tightness holding on to a tight second with Commanding Faith hot on her tails. Killer Angels could do no better then fourth and Drop Her Off would fade to last.

Congratulations to the connections behind Nothing Given who takes home her first GI victory covering the one and an eight mile DMR turf course in 1:45:68.
