NYSS – Park Avenue Packed with Talent

NY Stallion Series – Park Avenue – $200.000

AQU – 6 ½ Furlongs – Dirt

For Fillies Three Years Old Foaled in NY

April 23, 2023

Four of the fillies in this race are coming out of the NY-bred East View, including second place finisher Tall Southern Lady. She loves AQU and she should like the distance. May winner, Librarian, could be the favorite, but she’s going to have to prove she can navigate the shorter distance. This field is packed with talent. Can’t wait to see them run.

1 Tall Southern Lady (Oquinn Farm)

Second in the East View here at AQU last out. Has been struggling with longer distances, but when she shortens up to seven furlongs or shorter, she is very competitive, especially in state-bred company with a win in the Gimma in September also at AQU. Does her best running up front and could be there at the wire.

2 The Code (Riggins Racing)

Broke her maiden last out at SUN. Never worse than second in six starts, so you can’t dismiss her. Big step up, but she may be up to the task. Will take a wait and see attitude on this one.

3 Undercover Freak (Ace Racing Stable)

Coming in on a two-race winning streak that includes a maiden win at TUP and a claimer at GG where she changed hands. Both of those performances were at a distance. She will have to shorten up here and take a big step up.

4 Librarian (Jerry Garcia Racing)

Another one coming riding a two-race winning streak, both wins at a mile here at AQU. Likes the view from the front. If she likes the shorter distance, she could have a say in this one.

5 Sunsweet Star (Smokey Stover)

Very successful in optional claiming ranks with a first and a second. Never worse than third in four starts. Another one with a good shot at a piece of the purse, and a win wouldn’t be a surprise.

6 Feva John Crow (Night Rider Stables)

Third in the NY-bred May last out. Won a minor allowance at TAM before that and looked impressive doing it. Also has a starter allowance win at PRX to her credit. Another strong entrant in this very talented field.

7 Steves Lovey Dovey (La Canada Racehorses)

Allowance winner with stakes experience but hasn’t made it to the winner’s circle at that level – yet. This is a tough place to get a first stakes win, but she’s been close, including a second in the Lady Finger in September. Should be in the mix.

8 Anythings Possible (Night Mare Racing)

This filly’s name says it all. Anything is possible in this field. With just a maiden win and a third in the East View last out, this filly may be a bit outclassed here, but she could live up to her name with a top performance.

9 Winter (Angelos Stable)

Another East View graduate, this filly finished fifth that day off of a maiden claiming race where she changed hands. Another tough spot for this one. Not sure she’s up to the task.

10 Hot Angie (Night Rider Stables)

Another East View graduate with a fourth-place finish in that contest. Just one win to her credit, and that came last year. Will need a big effort to compete here.
