Purse: $150.000

Field of four State Breds fillies was set to go here in the FL Sire Stakes Meadow Star. This was the first year of this race so lets see how it unfolded on Saturday.

The winner of the first ever Meadow Star was Ocala Express. The longest shot on the board at 21/1 was third in her last start at Belmont Park against claimers for $50.000 and now she was looking to deliver a winning run against State Breds. Away second at the break and a length behind early leader Smokin Toni, as she sat and bought her time under R. Sanchez the two picked up in the straightaway as they pushed by leader Smokin Toni and took this one by three parts of a length. The winning time went in 1:42.23 for the mile and sixteenth and owner / breeder D J C Racing Stables picks up a first place check of $90.000.

2) Smokin Toni ~ 1.50 on the tote board was coming into this off a second place finish by three parts of a length over the yielding turf course here at GP in the FLSSJP and was looking to put herself back in the winners circle on Saturday with the move back to the main track. Away quickest of the four getting out to a length advantage, as she took that lead into the stretch jockey J. Rios looked for the wire to wire score, but Ocala Express kept coming at her and went on by leaving Smokin Toni second once again. She went out for owner / breeder Rockitpad who takes home $36.000 for the run.

3) The Rock Of Monaco ~ *1.40 and the favorite for the Meadow Star was a winner of four in a row and looking for more. Stretching back out after running her last few in sprints was away third at the break, as she turned the corner with M. Mena the two got closer but not close enough as she settled for third in this one. She went out for owner Mb Stables who takes home$18.000.

4) Culligan ~ 2/1 and a winner of two in a row was moving back to the main track after the score over the yielding turf course here at GP last time out. Out and away fourth at the break, as she hit the top of the lane she just kept backing up in this one leaving her last of the four under J. Caraballo for owner / breeder Chili King Stables who gets $6.000 for the run.
