What a mess… the SRF site goes down more than Monica after a Tuesday security briefing.  It’s a big weekend of racing here in the Big Easy, and we take a look at the older turf gents, set to go a mile and an eighth in the Muniz Mem Hcp (GII).  The same person that does the handicapping for the weights must do the odds… just doesn’t add up, but, hey… par for the course.  I’ll take Chai Danger, who is one of the top weights at 121lbs, as that win over this course last out seems to stamp him as the favorite.  That was a soft course, but he seems to run well on any surface, and I think a repeat of that race would get the job done.  Let’s go right next door and give Southern Flame a big chance in this race.  He was claimed three back for $25.000, and his first race for the new connections was somewhat forgettable, but the ol’boy turned it around to win a high end OptAlw at CD, then took the Kenner Stakes, over this course, to kick-off his ’24 season.  He’s a closing sprinter, and I hope that translates well into this race… I think so.  It’s a nice group, and it’s going to be a great day of racing.
