One-Two Finish for John Henry in The Shoemaker Mile

The Shoemaker Mile – GI [BC]

SA Race 2 1M – Turf

Three Year Olds and Up

1st Going Gone, trained by John Henry

Well although not the horse that I thought would win from this stable this horse ran a huge race to beat his stablemate. He stalked the place early on and then when he turned for home we went by the leader and fended them all off. He ran the mile in 1:32.69 and earned $300.000 for the win.

2nd Z One Chance, trained by John Henry

This horse also ran a huge race to get up for second and he almost repeated as the winner in here. He was midpack early on and then made a very good run down the lane but he just could not get to his stablemate. A very good race from him also and he should improve off of it.

3rd The Hand Youre Dealt, trained by Mb Stables

A very good run from this horse also as he came from near last to her up for this third place finish. He was very far back early on and was actually sixth at the top of the lane but he blew by a couple of them as he got up for third. He ran a very good race for sure.

4th Decibel, trained by Threshold

My top pick here did not run a bad race at all and he at least hit the board and took home a couple of dollars for his performance. He sat right off of the lead early on and I think he was just a little too close to the pace in here. He still fought on to hang on for fourth though.

Summary

Well a huge race for trainer John Henry in here as he gets the top two finishers in here. Last years winner for him Z One Chance ran a very good second but the talk of the race is his winner Going Gone who ran a huge race. He now has a spot in the Breeders Cup Mile. Congratulations to Going Gone and John Henry.
