Only Four in The PRM Cornhusker Handicap, But Any Could Win

The PRM Cornhusker Handicap – Grade III (P2)
PRM   Race #1   1 1/8m   Dirt   Graded Stake
Purse $300.000  For Three Year Olds And Upward.

1 Dogs Infowarrior, trained by John Henry
After this six year old bounced back to form in the Skip Away in March i thought that we may see this grand old warrior troubling the top races again. He didnt run too badly in the CT Classic but after being sold he then ran poorly in the Gold Cup last time making a few ask whether that Skipaway win was just a blip in an otherwise deteriorating form line. He gets a good draw today but is also burdened with top weight so it will be tough again but there is no doubt he has the ability in his old legs if he comes out in the right mood.

2 Fly Millennium, trained by Blushing Meadows
Has been running consistently in top races but still only has the four wins from twenty three races on his record. He ran very nicely in the MET Handicap last time making ground from a horrible draw and only beaten three lengths in the end so with a very far handicap mark he must rate a chance in this. Recently bought by Blushing Meadows for $200.000 that trainer doesnt often spend money for no reason and he will probably start favourite for this race.

3 El Gran Black, trained by Luz International
He had been making his mark on the turf before a switch to dirt saw him thrash a good field at allowance level last time. He could well have been sprinkled with some HRP magic fairy dust as that run looked pretty special as has his much improved work times and he may well be the biggest danger to Fly Millenium.

4 Copper Conduit, trained by Threshold
Bought for just $10.000 before a fair effort in the Brooklyn he has been knocking on the door for a while and looks to be coming into his own now. Improving works suggest that if he can handle the wide draw he will be fighting out the finish.

SUMMARY
An intriguing race even though it only has the 4 runners it is hard to make a clear cut chance for any of the runners. Fly Millenium looks best but doesnt win too often and may lack a bit of the hidden heart gene. El Gran Black showed big improvement when switched to the dirt last time and is working like a champion and Copper Conduit who may have needed the run in the Brooklyn looks set to run a big race. They look like they have a bit to spare over top weight Dogs Infowarrior but i have seen that horse run the odd scintillating effort and if he is at his best he could play a part too.
