Only Seven Go to Post for DMR Debutante

DMR Debutante – Grade I
DMR   Race #13   7f   Dirt   Graded Stake
Purse $300.000  For Fillies Two Years Old.

1  Amerigo    Estero Farms    Chirinos R

A good debut third saw this filly bought by Estero Farms for what now looks like a very cheap $35.000. She immediately paid her new owner back with a comfortable win in a DMR maiden in July coping very well with a nasty car park draw to win by a cosy two lengths. She has since worked a sub 1.11 so all the ducks are lining up, the last thing that is left is whether she has that ‘class’ factor which we will only know after this race.

2  Test Of Time    La Canada Racehorses   Bridgmohan S X

Another that followed a third on debut with a maiden win she has since been tested in good company and has proven herself worthy of a very good chance in this grade one.Second in the Debutante at CD she came from a long way back that day having been drawn wide and couldnt get Blazing By who was already home. It was decided to ride her closer to the pace last time out when tackling the grade two Sorrento Stakes and she led at the furlong pole  but was out finished in the end once again finishing second a smidgen ahead this time of Blazing By.
Her works are good enough and the mystery of the class gene doesnt need solving so she looks the safest option in the field.

3  Blazing By    Mb Stables    Lopez P

Won very nicely on debut and was hugely impressive in the Debutante when strolling home by three lengths so it was a bit of a mystery when she could only finish 6th in the Sorrento Stakes. She was right in the photo finish though and with all these horses so close in ability she could easily turn the tables on Test Of Time once again in this race. She has the trainer and the jockey to do the business and as Mb Stables has almost half the field in this race and they all have favourable draws you would think he could pick a path with one of them.

4  Elegant                  Mb Stables    Centeno D E

Won on debut in the mud but has failed twice since in allowance company. She won that allowance in the mud so it is assumed she is here in case the rains come and  affect the chances of the more fancied stable runners.

5  Kaizoku                  Mb Stables    Van Dyke D

With a super fast 1.37 and 1 mile work i have a feeling this ones future may lay over further than this trip but she has also laid down a sub 1.11 6 furlong work so can clearly sprint a bit too. Both of those work times have come since her last start where she closed hard to be second in an SAR allowance so i suspect there has been some improvement. She may turn out to be the best of the three stable entries.

6  Ninovan    Team 7 Illusions    Beschizza A

The stable has been in fine form so this one has to be taken seriously and with a recent 1.24 and 1 work over seven furlongs she is clearly improving all the time. Her maiden win last time out came on the turf  but that work says she can run on dirt.

7  Queen Kelsie Killer   Jive Inc.    Garcia Alan

Put in a determined finish to take the CTBA Stakes last time out from a  difficult draw and gets out wide again today so a repeat of the restraining tactics could see her go well. Alas the wide gate can be a bit of a lottery but she has closed in all her races so hopefully she will be doing the same today and beating the wide gate speed push.

SUMMARY
A disappointing field of only seven but as usual with these races all the horses can be given a chance. Mb Stables chances are better than most with three runners and its hard for different reasons to differentiate between the three. As it stands however i think Ninovan may take some beating today as long as she isnt beaten by her widish draw.
